Hi myloters! I was reading a post on one of my favorite websites and found someting very intersting and I did not know about. The classic amime Space ship Yamanto is now a live action movie and is due to be released in Japan on Dec. 1. WOW! I am thining, I have alwasy wanted to see a live action verson of the seriis I wacthed back in the late 70's. for english audences it was titled star blazers while the origianl title was space ship yamato. it was a great seris and i looked foward to comming home everyday to watch it on tv. I never knew untill latter in life that it was a copley janpaness serries. I realy did not knwo what amime was intill much latter in life.
The wired.com undirwire blog states that steven tyler of arosmith fame will sing the love ballad to the movie. there is a youtube vid with traier of the movie on the post.

I hope it will come out in a enlish lanage version so i will be able to watch it.
Do any of you amine fans out there look forward to seeing as much as me? what do you think aobut live action amime? Do you think that live action amime is good or better than the original? please tell me your views.

so you watched that show too! wow! Yes it was great! Yes I am sure they will condense the story for the movie. the war stuff I know will stay but I am sure the siren will still have a role to play.

ok I see, it was good that your rooommate told you about the seris so you could be up to date on the story. it was a great story and I loved it. I love some of what the japenesse movie makers were doing becase it was so much better than what we were seeing here on domestic tv.

This is the one starring Kimura Takuya right? I remember reading about this a while back but I heard that a lot of work and effort was put into this live action film. I'm actually looking forward to seeing this. I was watching that trailer and it looked really promising. Plus I like Kimura, he's a good actor. I'm having a lot of expectations for this one and I hope it's a good live action adaption. It is being done by the Japanese people so I'm confident that it'll turn out better than those other adaptions that were done by Hollywood (the Dragonball movie for example). I seriously don't remember much about the original anime but this is reason to go brush up on it. That way I'll be able to compare the two when the live action does come out.

Hi and thanks for the response. I think that is the same actor you are taling about. I am not familur with him. I do hope it is a good apapttation as well. I hade hoped that Hollywood would have its own adaption but maybe it is best to stay with the japaness verion. I had heard of a hollywood version of the amime cowboy bebop but I have not heard any more of it. that project may have goton killed but who knows.

I just read something about the Cowboy Bebop live action the other day. Can't remember where I read it but Keanu Reeves (who is supposed to play spike) was saying something about them having a script done but it was going to cost too much so they had to revise it. Their estimation on the cost of the film was half a billion dollars! So, from the sound of that alone, I don't think we'll be seeing that movie any time soon.

Yes I had heard about that also and that Keanu Reeves is suposed to play spike. I started a post on it maybe a year ago. I am now thinking like you that project has been axed becase of the cost. but a billion dollars that sounds crazy!
