SPAM... does it look like in my profile that I hunger for it...

Wondering what behooves members to spam another member. I was seriously thinking that perhaps my screaming avatar girl would get you to think before you spam me. I hate spam mail, spam luncheon meat and the word SPAM it self.
myLot gives us a privilege to display our banners and sites information for all to view, so perhaps I should list on my profile that I do not accept spam PM's...
Oh and do not think about me doing anything unethical so that you can earn... Please my user name should give you an inkling that I literally am a hardworkinggurl and my full 4 months here with the number of my posts should be a clue as well.
NO SPAM ALLOWED!!! or I will have no choice but to delete our friendship, something I do not take lightly to.
How do you handled spamming members, especially when they are so new??

Personally I agree with you. I would rather incline with someone via a discussion or ask them what they are doing to earn money, more than someone sending me their link and expecting me to sign up. I like many others can always use some Extra $$, but personally I would rather be the one to ask than have someone send me something that I am not interested in as well. Yes, I do a network marketing business with a link in my profile but I would never force it one someone.

Tina you know what is hilarious with spammers here is that some will send me a link of something that is clearly listed on my profile. Most usually will go to the profile to send a PM right so why they did not see it there and with payment proofs is beyond me.
I don't mind members messaging ever, as I do it constantly here with several. I usually do not have issues with spammers but it goes in patterns where some members specifically friend me and have never interacted with me. Then seconds later no how are you and or nothing but a referral link in a message.
Normally I don't delete friends but if they continually spam then I will have no choice but to delete. It is not fair they do this but some sadly do.

I hate spam mails, too! They're all over my yahoo account! Lucky for me, not a lot of people spam me here. Maybe you should put in your logo, NO SPAM ALLOWED!GRRR! (That would work well for me because my avatar is my Patch . Woof!)
Seriously, I would delete our friendship, too, if I got spammed a lot.
Oh, but I love spam luncheon meat

I think I will put that in my profile: something like if you value my myLot friendship DO NOT spam as I will immediately delete the friendship.

Hi, since I have joined mylot I have constantly spammed by some members of this site. What I have observed is that some join this only to spam and I have made it a rule for myself that if any one sends me friends request and there is a zero next to his/her name or a minimum I wait for centuries before I accept as I scent their vile purpose.
Yes there is no doubt that you have been very constant here.

Yeah, this is really surprising. What did you do to that anyway?

I sent a support email with the information and I did not deleted the member, as I want to be able to track a bit to make sure they do not continue to scam others. the nerve of them Unfortunately they do not see the value of being a myLot member, simply as they are trying to get fraud accounts.
Perhaps I may never know abut the outcome but pray this person gets stopped because this member clearly told me that their account was banned and needed a new one from a US member. I hope no one falls for this as this potentially could be a crime. I think, well at least I will not indulge in such as my daily satisfaction must be met first.

I sort of use this tactic as well but my most recent had well over 4,000 posts so it really took me by surprise and well the fact that I was asked to open a US account for the member really made my jaw drop.
I will definitely not be so quick anymore after this.

The ones I was referring to was here on myLot so my inbox here on myLot was getting over flooded by spam emails. The only way to get those messages to us here is if they are friends, as there is no other way.
Anyways it has got better as I do not get as many. But as for my regular email addresses, wow amazing on how many we get daily. Thanks for responding.

I guess it is disappointing that people are using the circle of friends here to send spam mails. I think it is much more stupid to risk a friendship than spamming in order to earn some extra cents.
So far, I have just ignored them but if they are persistent they will be removed.

Thanks for the advice I will definitely use your suggestion. But can you believe the request for me to create a US account for this person. HA! Now that one took me by surprise.

I hope no one falls victim to him....

That is certainly one approach and well some members just don't listen and or read. I have but it has become useless. I think this discussion helped though as I have not received many in a while. So happy about that.
Thanks for responding.

LOL I've seen your screaming girl avatar around mylot plenty of times and I NEVER noticed it was a screaming girl I thought it was a girl laughing. Man I guess I really dont pay very close attention to things. I HATE when people spam me. I was just commenting like two days ago on someones discussion about spammers and said that I've only had it happen to me on mylot twice. Then today one of my mylot friends sent me a spam message trying to get me to be a referral under her. I was tempted to take her off my friends list but I think I will just hope she doesnt do it again because usually she does write legit discussions and comments.

My avatar, some think she is singing, some say she is laughing. I say she is screaming but hey she can do all of it for me. hehehe... she hurts no ones ears though.
I hear you on the spam and I normally do not mind if it is from a myLot friend, it is the ones that ask me to start up a US account for them that rub me the wrong way.

Spam is absolutely annoying, especially when we do not active for several days, and they have made our inbox full of junk. I usually block them if there is a blocking feature in an e-mail service provider or a social website. But I guess it is not available here.
So, yes. You must put that regulation in your profile, and notify Mylot's staff if those spammers gets nasty.

Defiantly I agree as I know I can handle such but what worries me is that so many new members venture out in the online working world that easily get fooled by those spammers.
Oh I hope not, but I will be more selective and a bit more diligent on how I handle the spammers.
Thanks for responding.

Spam hurts, and most of the times its frustrating and embarrassing. I usually use a spam blocker to stop spamming members.

I will have to figure out how to put the spam blockers on my profile preferences. Just an awful shame.

...aside from all of those you mentioned, spammers also make us paranoid enough to think that everyone who adds us up are spammers!
Just yesterday I deleted people who managed to appear like they were. Even if there were chances that they weren't.
I love SPAM luncheon meat. Sometimes it's just too salty though.

Glad you like spam meat.. hehehe.. To be asked to create a fraudulent US account for someone who lives internationally sort of rubs me the wrong way.

It really isn't nice to be getting spam from the members here. You thought they could be trusted with your friendship and they take advantage of it. Since they don't bother to read your message about not being bothered with spam. Then I would ask them nicely to stop sending the spam mails to you. Then if they ignore and continue sending spam then I would delete them as a friend altogether.

I have learned the hard way and no member should be an exception as we are here to socialize not be bothered by the rubbish that we normally get from all the crazy online ventures.
I appreciate your response and will do just that, it is a shame that members feel they are an exception.

This is also the reason I let 'friend requests' sit on its folder for a while before I accept them. I've had that experience before when I was a newbie, and I was accepting friend requests left, right and center.
So, I've also learned my lesson. And I hate spam too!
...but the bacon-flavored spam, is actually not that bad.

I have never heard of bacon flavored spam, mmm that sort of sounds yummy, will put it on my next grocery list and have to try it. Hey if spammers think that I could try anything, HA! But bacon I love.. I thinking bacon spam on french bread and toasty too. hahaha
This is what I will do herein is let them sit and see their pattern. Thanks great suggestion.

Mylot has set up that PMs can only be sent between friends, so I think you'd better be strict when accepting friend request. Be cautious if the guy has no posts or only a few. Many new users only register, send tons of friend request to everybody then spam them to promote their sites or referral links.
