Is a vegetarian diet healthier than a meat one?

I often wonder what it would be like to be a vegetarian. I love cheese and even foods that replace meat such as quorn etc. Is it healthier to cut out meat altogether? My grandmother used to only cut out red meat, so she would eat chicken and fish. What do you think?

Although being a vegetarian has it's benefits and pretty much avoids certain conditions that we could get from eating meat. But having meat in the diet is more preferable, there are nutrients that you can really just get in meat and just a little in vegetables such as protein. you're grandmother's idea of cutting down on red meat is a good way. I guess control on everything is just what we need if we want to be healthier.

So many of my friends are developing cancer and research is showing meat is not good for cancer sufferers and eating it on a daily basis can actually bring cancer on. I don't always feel like meat, some days especially after a steak, I long for a cheese dish. I think it's my bodys way of saying have a rest!! It does take a lot for the body to digest. Chicken is easier.

It really depends on the level of vegetrianism and meat-eating.
If you eat red meat everyday, then yes a meatless diest would probably be healthier. But, if you eat lean meats and more sparingly and get servings of vegetables and fruit, you probably already have a healthy diet.
It's really just a matter of finding a balance.

It is still better and easier to eat with meat than various kinds of veggies to get the same nutrition.

I am vegetarian and I believe to be vegetarian is more healthy than non vegetarian because I had seen that those who have allergy problem from birth and they try to eat non vegetarian food then they become more allergic to other things as we dont know what they use to grow the non veg.

I'm not a vegetarian and don't have any intention of becoming one. I still believe in a balance diet. A balance diet should include meat. I don't think a vegetarian diet is healthier. The key is eating in moderation.
