What does it mean to you to be Christian?
For me, it's striving to be like Christ and to always/unconditionally have the love and acceptance of God.
I was raised as a Christian, but strayed [a lot] from it when I was was in high school. Now I'm 20 and have found a fantastic church and have full-heartedly gotten back into it. I'm even surprised at myself (there was a time I was completely bent on being an existential athiest!).

To me, being a Christian is simply a matter of pleasing my heavenly Father by trying to live by the rules He set down: treat everyone as a brother and sister and as you would want to be treated, be honest and compassionate, help whomever you can in any way you can. Leave a mark of kindness in the world after you're gone and remember that the only exposure to Christianity that many people have is the example that you yourself set.
Now, that's a big responsibility and I'll admit I've failed quite a bit! But the challenge is to keep trying, improve yourself day by day as much as possible and strive to be a sharing person spreading goodwill and good works, sincerely and from the heart.
It helps to be in a church, those serve as support groups, but He doesn't care if you go to church or not--it's not about the show, it's about the actions.

I'm sorry! I forgot the title of your post. In one sentence, being a Christian is essentially following the Golden Rule--do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Is it the belief in the stories presented in the religion that convinced you or is it being around a group of people? If it is about being around nice people you can go to another place for that.
