Is your dream home already made - have you found it a magazine, online or driven by it? Or is it your mind - perhaps a conglomeration of things you've already seen or maybe purely your ideas?
Have you seen the HGTV Dream Home what are the HGTV Smart Home the Blog Cabin the Urban Oasis are these your visions of a dream home? If it were me even without the initial cost of taxes which takes the the the arv of the home and taxes at his other income even without that I probably would sell and buy a smaller house that really fit my vision of a dream home even those those are quite nice I would like something small and sustainable and maybe portable.
What about you is your dream home huge small colorfully decorated perhaps more muted tones? Is it heavily walled and gated so no one can come in or welcoming to all? Is it in the middle of the city or in the center of a forest or somewhere in between?

I thought I had a dream home. I always wanted to live in a log cabin up in the woods...but after going on a tour of homes I changed my mind. The logs take up alot of space and from what I understand they are hard to heat and keep cool....

Have you replaced with a new dream? I love houses made wih fireproof and pest proof materials and methods with a design that can withstand high winds and keep the temperature fairly constant without using too much heat and ac.

What about an earth berm house in the woods? The temperature would remain fairly constant because it would be partly underground and a lot of Earth berm home so just me like a work of art that is beautiful. Look some up there also called earthships there's some really beautiful ones in Taos New Mexico. And Colorado.
I'm doing talk-to-text on the phone and it's so funny because Earth burn came out earthworm. Eww. They're usually off grid so that means free for the rest of your life.
I like the tiny homes. People think they're really small and some of them are made so poorly and small and like they're not really a living room but I've seen them with L-shaped couches some of them have one bedroom on the bottom floor and a couple on the top floor like. The nicest thing about them is that you can move it if someone decides to chop down the forest around you can move to another for US tour to the ocean or to a city. And because they're under 399 feet if you don't count the laws which you wouldn't which an appraiser would not if they're lower than a certain amount then you don't pay any house taxes on them which is perfect. It's great for Aging in place.
The reason I like them is because you're spending Less on your house and more on your life on experiences on savings for when you retire and the world is then your living room.

What kind of ideas do you have? Picturing it right now - what does it look like? Decent size with two floors and basement doesn't tell me much! :)

Having a basement is so nice. We don't have basements here in Texas I think because we're probably all built on sand. At least in my part of Texas which is the Gulf Coast. Is also something called an earth Berm House which is off grid and it's partially underground so the entire house stays the same temperature year-round. Many of them have this layer all around the outside that is for that it has direct sunlight and it's for growing plants inside the house it's the really beautiful you should look them up. They're also called.
This one is called the Phoenix and I don't know if it wasn't able to sell so is made into an Airbnb or it's sold and the new owner made it into an Airbnb but here you can check out some pictures:

I'm going to have to check the rules and see if we're allowed to leave links they're not bad links or anything.
I don't own the Earthship but I wish I did.

Oh I love that you posted this. I'm weird I've been designing my dream home over and over agian for as long as I can remember. I still do only now I usually make the houses on sims2 ().
I have a big family and love it my dream home would actually be a collection of homes spreadout over several acres. I've done so much research so that I can build a home that will work comfortably with pour family and laid back lifstyle as well as our mother earth. Myhome needs to be welcoming, comfortable, and fun. Picture a large cottage in the woods, something that looks like it fell out of the pages of a fairy tale.
I hope to begin building my little hippy haven here in about a year or so. We've been trying to save up and are always watching for good deals on large lots.
Very cool post

Wow! Freedomg - I could've have written your post! I too want several houses spread over acres - that fits my lifesyle and respects mother earth - and would love something that looks like it fell out of a fairy tale book - or a Kincaid painting. I would love for it to be fully off grid!
Glad you posted, nice to meet someone like minded...where would this be for you?

Oh my gosh that sounds so perfect I don't know how I missed this years ago unless you just answered this recently or after I left my lot for some years.
I have thought about that idea as well because the norm is for kids to live separately from their parents as I get older but why do they have to I mean they don't have to be directly under feet in the same home but they can be on the same property. And grandparents rather than having to put them in a home let them be independent but still under your care somewhat.
Haven you ever heard of dome homes their energy efficient and they can be beautiful like there's one that still has a YouTube although I think it's been sold it's called Shangri-La and it's in Aguilar Colorado and it's a very large Dome home. And it's got a lot of Domes you know with a main dome in the middle. I love the idea of off-grid cuz it's more sustainable but I love the idea of having a little community.
Just make sure they're people that you can stand living with for a long time. And it'd be nice to have a little Garden in the woods that kind of thing. Honestly I loved him home was just because their energy efficient and they're different but the idea what you described homes that look like they fell out of a fairytale now that that sounds perfect. Even something out of a Kinkade picture. Not sure if you're familiar with them but there's one picture I'll see if I can find it and attach it it's of a little fairy tale-like house with a little heart and it's right near where Little Creek is it's so pretty let me see if I can find.
This isn't exactly the one I was looking for but it it conveys the same kind of image is just not my favorite one of his.

I have my dream home and it is nothing special, just a home with an open floor plan, plenty of room for my kids when they visit and a small yard.
