Original AI judges have decided not to be a judge anymore. Will it still be a hit?

I quit watching several years ago. However, I do feel like this will affect ratings. I think a lot of people just watched to see Simon dis people. I do not like casting changes and such. I thought the show had become sort of repetitive and silly. I personally have not desire to watch it or care who the judges are anymore but do think the change will take a toll on ratings.

You are absolutely right babykeka80! I used to watch AI a lot because of the nasty, tactless but honest comments from Simon. he is the spice of the show! Now that he is not a judge anymore, I wonder if upcoming judges will just rely on their scripts. Though it may be hurting, an honest opinion is what the idols need.

I think alot of people watched for Simon. I think the ratings will go down. We will have to see.

Paula was very kind. She sort of compensated for Simon's straightforward comments. He was hard to please most of the times but I love Simon. :) With JLo and Tyler (star studded judges) around, it will still be a hit. Though I doubt if it will be still as interesting as Simon was is in it. AI needs to have someone exactly like Simon. :)

I think the show will still do fine. I think that a panel of new judges (or at least mostly new judges, as randy will still be there) can be a breath of fresh air for the show. At times i think that too much of the spotlight was put on the judges and what snarky remarks they were going to make, or what crazy emotional reactions THEY were going to have instead of on the contestants them selves. Also it was getting too predictable. since it was the same judges year after year, you pretty much knew what kind of performers were going to make it through the auditions. Maybe we will get to experience some newer, fresher types of talent now. Speaking of Simon, has anything heard any word on the new show he is supposed to be doing? I remember him talking about it during interviews at the end of the last A.I. season, but haven't heard anything about it since. Another music/singing competition, except from what i was to understand there would be no age limits and groups were welcome instead of just solo acts?

it won't be the same without Simon. My friends and I are watching AI looking forward to Simon's constructive criticisms. and i guess a lot are the same.

I really like watching AI. I think that on the previous seasons there was a balance between the amount of talent and the credibility of the judges. So I believe that when the show doesn't have Simon anymore, they would have to make up for the new faces and talents to keep the show's ratings. I agree that having Ellen as a judge was somewhat off for judges should have requirements to meet too. As for Paula, she has the experience and credibility and all that but she tends to say the same things over and over with each contestant. I think J.Lo is fit for the job but can't tell yet if she'll do a great job until I watch her judge on the upcoming season if ever she accepts it.

I guess one of the major mistakes Idol made is to hire Ellen on the show I don't hate her i think she is very funny but the thing is even though AI is very pop a certain amount of credibility is still needed. She is not a singer or a musician she is also not a star builder or a record producer. If she is judging the next American Idol Comedian then yeah I'll give it to her. Its good that she has the sense to resign from the show. Simon is credible and crude what I heard is JLo and Tyler will be the next judge so atleast Jlo is a performer and very Pop and tyler will be a good addition since AI did produced rock artists and he might be able give some good input and rubbed some of his strong stage presence on those hopefuls. I'm sure people will tune in just to see how the new judges will fit right in and see if there are new contestants who are worth watching.
