I lose brain cells every day at work.

I am really starting to lose faith in humanity. At work today our internet went down which ment we were not able to take credit cards. Some of the responses I got were just stupid...
I said I do apologize however our credit card server is currently down, at this time we can only accept cash.
The responses I got in return..
(the first one I was trying to run her credit card when it first went down)
"Well can I use another credit card?" ( Yeah lady the server just doesn't like this card.)
"Well you can still take debit cards right?" (What part of cash only do you not understand?)
"I don't carry cash you are sure you can't take a credit card?" (Oh well just for you I will put the server come back up)
"You take checks right?" (There arent many places that do take checks anymore. Why would a fast food place take one?)
"What do you mean you can only accept cash?" (Am I speaking Swahili? How hard is it to understand we can only take cash?)
And that was just part of my day. I had a hard time deciding what to put this discussion under simply because it would fit under so many different interest. Anyone have a day like this?

Not really! I had a great day but I do feel for you. I think when one is dealing with people they need a lot of patience as can be seen by some of the responses you get from people. I hope not all days are like that!

I work in a drive thru window, the people drive me nuts most of the time. I do have to admit that I like the people I work with and we usually have a great time. We keep each others spirits up. With the economy the way it is we are making the best of the job we can get.

Good for you buddy! One has to endure all kinds of situations under the present economy. Glad that you have great co-workers that bolster you in annoying situations. My hat goes off to you!

That's awful. Yeah, people really are busy these days that they weren't really aware that they're starting to sound stupid. I suggest to just take it easy on them. Besides, the customer is always right, right? :)

Why not write a book? Maybe you'll hit it off as a famous author, right? "Why people are stupid."

I can't handle much anymore. A day like you described would have just sent me straight over the edge. I can't handle stress. Sensitive to it. I lost alot of faith in humanity about six years ago when my granddaughter nearly through me down the stairs. It is amazing how young people act now days. Much less dress. People have become lazy and credit cards are the only way to go now days. I don't carry cash and if came in there and was tired and having a hard day I would get alittle testy if I couldn't use my card.

I can understand that to a point. Its the stupid questions that I cant handle anymore. I just want to ask them did you get dropped on your head as a child? And half of them expect me to be the amazing kreskin or something. I am supposed to be able to read their minds. They will say something like I want that umm thing you know, I am supposed to know what it is.

It's amazing what people expect from us isn't it? They will tell me they want a large drink but notr tell me what they want. That happened a bunch of times tonight. I have been working too much the last few days, I am exhausted. They are killing me lol.

I can understand that completely. I was in customer service for nearly thirty years so I have lost afew brain cells too. Believe me! And young people can be so nasty and ill mannered. Mind readers and magicians. That's us. As mothers too sometimes.

I know how you feel, I walked the same walk as you before.
I was a cashier in one Michaels' Arts and Crafts store in Canada. Our servers were often down for "technical reasons". while my supervisors were busy calling tech support to fix the problem, we cashiers had to put up "Cash only" signs.
Guess what, people still showed up with debit cards. They didn't really know the difference between a card and a bill. I almost wanted to change the sign to "PAPER BILLS ONLY".
I just don't get those people, if they have the time to shop at a art craft store, they should at least have some common sense. It seems some of those people are always on the run, like been chased by ghosts, and don't have the time to think for themselves.
Ignorant is bless, for the people on the paying side of the counter.

Half the time they wont even read the signs or listen to me when I tell them. They get up to my window and act surprised. I think some of them do it because they are trying to get free food or something. What kills me the most though is how a lot of them look down on me. It bothered me till I realized that I at one point worked for the largest internet company in the world and most of them couldn't get through the front door if they tried.
Some people I think were dropped on their heads as children lol.

I feel sad for you. =( Some people should really listen first before they speak, because its really simple common sense. I think because all of us are so used to having those "tech" things that some of us forgets how to not have them. I hope that there will be no more days like this for you. Relax and just laugh it out. God bless (",)

Oh its a source of laughter daily. that's just one example. We tend to laugh all day. its pretty much the only way to get through the day!! Some people just really dont know what to let out of their mouths, or the worse is what not to wear when they come out of the house.
