Would you take one for the team?

Say, your team has a project and well you all worked together for this project to be successful... okay but challenges and sometimes work trials and arguments arise and one of your team mates has suddenly left (resigned, etc) and partly put the project in jeopardy.
So as a team member, would you "take one for the team", and endure whatever you will be getting (anger from your bosses, etc) even if you know you have done everything in your might to finish the job but its just inevitable that one member has put all of you in line?
What would be the appropriate actions on this, if you were in this situations?

I agree with you sledge. What is important is the work at hand and how to accomplish it. Since, it is a team effort the best way is to talk to the team members and try to clear things out. It would be obvious that all of you will be in jeopardy if you accomplished the word done. By trying to talk to the team I believe things will be resolved.

those things happen. And yes, I will take part of anything that will be said or be given as a consequence of being in that team. We can't blame a person who has already left. Though his leaving might be a big reason as to why a project was a failure, still, we are too many in the team against that one, so we should do whatever it takes to make that project an accomplished one. If it fails, it will be all our responsibility. Besides, if that project is a successful one, it won't be for the glory of just a person but of the whole team. So whatever happens in that project will be for the whole group, and since I am a member, and it it a team, it is considered as one.
