Death Threat to the President

Heard a news about the assassination threat to our president. He was blamed by the death of Chinese nationals hostage that he have done nothing o stop it. Is it right to accuse him of the crimes made by his countrymen? Is it fair for him to be treated that way when he wasn't have the chance to prove of what he can manage to do?
