The last thing we want to be faced with is an angry person especially someone you don't even know from Adam! I empathize with those working in customer service where most often they encounter unsatisfied and angry customers, and the worst being swore at. It takes a lot of patience and tolerance to handle these people. I remember when I was managing a coffee shop and I had to sack one of the girls, that was after 3 verbal and 3 written warnings. The father barged in to the shop angry at me and calling me all sorts of names. I only said one sentence, "If you don't leave this property right this very moment, I will call the police!" He took off still angry and swearing but I got him out off my hair. I didn't lose my composure but deep inside I wanted to knock him down dead. lol!

"Never fight fire with fire, but bring up the opposit." That's what I believe is the most effective and wise decision to face angry people. First, we have to understand that we do not know what inside their head, so just keep calm and relax. Second, try your best to speak with very low and slow tone, make it different compared to the rising voice they will ususally do, no matter what you are doing (counter, answer, apologize, etc). It will give calm impact to them. Third, stay out of danger!

Yeah, that's absolutely right. And if you cannot handle it, call your boss! :D
