How To Convert Movie to Play on my IPod?

I have downloaded a movies from the internet, and i want them to go onto my ipod. i have tried some movie converters but i didnot have much success. does anyone have a good movie converter thats free just give me a link or something? or other instructions.

I use quick media converter for my convertion needs. They have predefined file formats that work for your Ipod among other features. And yup it's free. Do a search query. The developer is cocoon software
