Hello Sparks. I had a bad virus on my computer a few weeks ago and whatever I tried to do to get rid of it failed. I eventually had to format my hard drive and reinstall my OS. There is a good free download called Darik's Nuke and Destroy which completely cleans everything from your hard drive, much better than a normal format. Before using this you MUST have a system restore disc to reinstall your OS. Before taking such drastic action you could try downloading the free version of Avast and run a scan with that, also download Spyboy Search and Destroy and finally download Malaware Bytes and scan with all of those. If the virus is still there after that then a format is the only way to get rid of the virus.
I've recently switched to Linux as my OS, it's free and completely virus proof because it doesn't recognise viruses or spyware. It's much faster than Windows and it does everything that Windows does, only better.

Spydoctor is a good antispyware but for more malicious threats you need to run a good anti virus, Avast is excellent. Malwarebytes will also detect infections that other scans miss. I had a trojan hijacker on my computer and I couldn't even get on websites, it just kept redirecting me to other ones, how annoying!

I use Microsoft Security Essentials and Spybot Search and Destroy and MalwareBytes. I've never had to reformat my computer after I started using those, reformatting is such a pain, takes forever, and doesn't necessarily get rid of the virus.

You are not the only one who hates virus, plus all anti-virus software cannot kill 100% virus in your computer. It is like you detected the and kill the tail but the head is still there and that head can cause file damage. So if there are viruses in your computer and it annoys you, the only way to solve it is to REFORMAT.

Sometimes the restore files might also get infected, so you should turn off system restore, if you choose to do anti virus scans. Then turn back on later. SuperAntiSpyware is a good free spyware program to run (if pc is infected), in addition to many others, e.g. MSE, Spybot, Avast, Malwarebytes, Trojan remover.

if there is a virus in your system and not detected by antivirus i suggest you to format your disk.
