This is very frustrating. I have no idea what talent i have. I don't have problem about it when I was still studying because i never participated in all events like this. But now that it's my little girl who is very much willing to join the contest and I don't want to stop her because I wanted her to be exposed to this events and her school life excitements that I never had before.
I just got a call from her teacher that she was already enlisted and will represent one of the countries. It is not sure yet on what country she will be representing since the list hadn't finalized yet. But there must be a talent portion. And that is the problem now. What am i going to teach her. I have both left feet when it comes to dancing. And I sing like a trapped rat :(
What should I do now. I cannot rely on my mother about this anymore. She just hated all events at school. A declamation maybe? I need your opinions mylotters. Thanks

Thanks cjlot, you are right. She loves singing even before and she chooses to sing. 2 weeks is such a short period but I can see how hard she practice.

first, don't panic! as a mom of 2 preschoolers, i understand how apprehensive parents can be when faced with these events. confirm what country she will be representing so you can research on that country's dances, songs and costumes. you don't have to be a dancing or singing guru for your child to have a decent presentation. you just need to check out youtube for UN presentations. breathe...

Hi watergirl, thanks a lot she will be representing Brunei and yes I agree i'm really scared for that day. But i have to be there since this is special to her and she even asked me to be there. She knows I have work on that day that's she made me promise I will be there. She already had her teacher as a trainer and will be singing. She had practiced last night.

HI,
It is actually a good news and also good event for your
girl to join.
let her have more experience when she was young and it definitely
boost up her courage to present in public.
Not to worry too much, you can train her in singing or dancing.
Or else, you can get someone who is talented in those 2 fields
to train your girl.
Have confidence on yourself and also your girl, she sure can do it.
Good luck!!

Thanks shia, I just talked to her teacher the other day and she eagerly volunteered to train her in singing. I will just be looking for her costume for the search. And of course to be there for her. But I'm still a bit nervous

This is a very perplexing situation. Is there something that your daughter is good at. You know, has she taken gymnastics or anything like that in her life? If she has then you have a good jumping off point. Even if she hasn't surely there are things that you as a parent observe that she is good at. You can't teach a child a talent over night, but there are certainly things that she is inherantly good at and you can use that to develop a talent for her to perform.

Let her do what she wants. if she wanted to sing them let her sing. if she wanted to dance then let her dance. its better that its her idea not yours. if its idea, then shes more than willing to do it. if its yours, sometimes we need to convince them.
As far as i know your little girl has a talent in singing right? she loves to sing even she can't say the words clearly. Just support her in whatever talent she wanted to do
