India at Oscar !!!

Yesterday night i was solving a quiz of ''which Indian won the last Oscar for an Indian movie?''.....but it is so disappointing that only Satyajit ray has won the only Oscar for an Indian movie...
I do not know even if we Indians are making as much movie that Hollywood is producing but why we have not won a single Oscar...even we are not nominated for any Oscar....
It is very frustrating for our Bollywood....
I do not know what we are lacking....peoples please help me in sharing your views what we are lacking of and how we can rectify it....please

Ehmmm, I'm not from India but I think there are 3 indian movies which has been nominated for best foreign movie, the last one is Lagaan. I watched that movie and I think it was a great movie. I rarely watched Indian moviess, but I thought 3 Idiots are Oscar worthy and I hope Indian film industry select this movie for their official Oscar selection

Its really a shameful thing for bollywood.Some directors are really very talented.Some of the scripts in bollywood are also very deserving and extraordinary.But small bugget of the movie and lack of proper direction doesn't do justice to that script.But then a low bugget movie like slum-dog milliner has been successful.I think there must be better graphics and special effects used in the movies.Which obviously add a lot to the bugget.Hope that in the coming decade we will also have many Oscars standard movies.

To answer your question, first of all we have to go back and look at the quality of movies being made in Bollywood. There are only few directors in the industry ,who are actually interested in making meaningful movies. Rest all of them
are only making masala movies which appeal the masses.The Second thing is the level of Acting being performed by the actors these days. I dont deny the fact that some of the actors are really talented, but most of them are not.
