Glasgow (Glaschu in Gaelic; or Glesca/Glesga in Scots) is the largest city in Scotland. The City of Glasgow is also the most populous unitary authority area. It is situated on the River Clyde in the country's west central lowlands. People from Glasgow are known as Glaswegians. Around 2,300,000 [4] people live in the Greater Glasgow conurbation, defined as the City of Glasgow and the surrounding region. Glasgow is the third most popular foreign tourist destination in the UK after London and Edinburgh. The city also has Scotland's largest and most economically important commerce and retail sector [5]. Glasgow is also one of Europe's top 16 financial centres and is home to many of the country's leading businesses.
