Many people think that being thin is a standard of beauty. So many girls lose weight only because she will look more beautiful. As we all know, healthy is important than other things. If give you a choice, which do you prefer, among healthy or beautiful?

I hate to say this, but being thin has become a standard of beauty for the majority of all women, but I don't think that it's about being skinny, I think it's about being healthy.
Ladies, if you eat healthy, exercise, and you weigh a healthy weight (example: a 5'8" women should weigh roughly 145 to 170) then you are okay, and you don't lose anymore weight, however, if you weight over 200 lbs, there are going to be problems, not because of beauty, but because you could have problems with your cholesterol, high or abnormal blood pressure, joint and back pain, arthritis, knee pain, and other physical healthy issues, now I say this because I used to weight 220 lbs and I am 5'8". I had many health issues when I was this heavy. I had knee pain, back pain, abnormal blood pressure, trouble breathing, plantar fasciitis (basically, the arch in foot dropped and it was very painful), and I trouble find clothes that fit me. It wasn't a pleasant experience and it made me feel awful.
Today, I weight 165 lbs, which is perfect for someone my size. It's a healthy weight. I can breathe normally, I am not in the kind of pain that I used to be in, I have clothes that fit me, and I don't feel bad about myself.
I used to be obese, then I transition to being over weight, and now I am healthy.
I care more about health than I do about beauty. Beauty comes and goes, but your healthy has to stay with you for as long as possible. I would much rather be healthy.

i think it is good to look beauty and healthy at the same time.but people found it hard to get these two at the same time.so perhaps they just choose one of them.but i really sure that when we are healthy means we have a beautiful body and looks.but beauty only will not necessarily comes with good condition of health.i am happy with my life to stay healthy and beauty as well.that is from my view only.

I am thin and healthy, however I work really hard at it. I exercise 3 times a week, eat 3 - 4 times a day and drink a lot of water.
I am very proud that I have the discipline to do so. I will not mock and or critic anyone who is overweight yet healthy as there are many reasons sometimes when a person no matter what they do just simply cannot lose weight.
So healthy is always the better choice.

Wow, that is inspiring. I wish I also had the discipline. I'll start with the water. That's something easy to do and something I've done in the past.
And, yes, there are people who have some medical conditions that is why they don't lose weight no matter what they do.

As the saying goes "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". What is beautiful to one may not be beautiful others.

Before I continue commented.
I would like first to emphasize that scientist and researches about maintaining healthy lifestyle is that obesity is a kind of unhealthy life due to high blood, sudden heart attack and the like...
That is why they required for people obese to have an exercise to avoid those kind of diseases...
Well, I don't know why some people acted like that? I don't say many people are set an standard for beauty because as old saying say; "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" not on the standard of some people...but it is depend on the people seeing one thing.
Maybe it is good for you but it is bad for me...
Since you ask what to choose simply I choose healthy lifestyle because being healthy is wealthy...
Have a nice day!

I think that there are some people that are just too thin and they look really ill.I think that if you are thin then it is better to look like you have some meat covering your bones, rather than looking like a skelaton.I am happy being the size that i am aswell as being under 9 stone in weight.

No, I don't b/c "Beauty is in the EYE of the Beholder" and not in a size 8 for women, size Medium for men! U can be beautiful as a FFW or a XXL man as long as U are healthy doing it.

upsetting it may seem yes for now its a trend. specially since there are so many celebrities that are very thin lately. and people are very insensitive on giving out comments about how fat a person is and how ugly you are when you are fat. right now i'm having the same dilemma and i don't want to be thin because i want to be beautiful. i feel i am whatever size i maybe but due to health issues. i hope they just don't see it because your thin your beautiful already. i have read and watched documentaries about men and women having Anorexia or Bulimia. and lets face it, with the world we have right now that material things are always looked up to and getting to a size nothing is best, its getting worst each day.

No, I don't think so; but I knew being obese is not healthy. I would prefer to be thin but without illness. If given a choice, I like to be healthy than beautiful but I'm not that ugly anyway. And of course, attitude matters.

It appears that beauty is more associated with thin and "sexy" bodies but that's because we are bombarded with ideal images of models, celebrities as if that's the true epitome of beauty. I don't agree with the idea that being thin is the standard of beauty. There are "up sized" women who looks great even they are not thin. There was a feature in TV where it says that Latinas are sexy when they are voluptuous and skinny women are not the "in" thing for them. I guess beauty is a matter of perception. As the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
If I were to choose between being healthy or beautiful...I would rather be healthy because there's a certain glow when you are healthy. Physical beauty fades when we are sickly or not feeling well. So staying healthy will definitely pay off. Being comfortable in one's skin and the way we carry ourselves regardless of our weight defines us and affects how others will see or appreciate us. So go ahead- "feel beautiful and look beautiful." Inner beauty will find its way to radiate and make you glow all over. :D

Health is wealth. I was never hospitalized for any sickness. But since I'm just human, I also get sick with the common colds, cough and fever. Other than those instances, I'm healthy. I have always been thin, I guess it's genetics. My mom was also thin too when she was younger and just got bloated when she aged. No matter what I ate, I just don't get fat. I'd really like to gain weight.

I should be choosing a healthy ones rather than beautiful but not healthy either. Being healthy is more important than being beautiful. What is beauty when your not healthy at all. Beautiful can lust a lifetime but being healthy it would be last a lifetime.:)

I prefer healthy to thin. Young girls are bombarded with unrealistic images of too thin models that are known to achieve such low weights in unhealthy ways. I fell victim of the ‘thin is beautiful’ trap when I was a teenager and almost got anorexia if it hadn’t been for a doctor my mother took me to while overseas; he more than likely saved my life. I have not been as concerned with my weigh since those days and I hope it rubs off on my daughter who is only eight and already very concerned about her looks, we don’t talk diets in our house and I have explained that the way models look is not realistic. I hope she doesn’t ever change her thinking in regards to beauty and thinness.

I would prefer to be healthy. I am not very fond of people who are so thin and scary.
I am thankful that some artists in Hollywood have decided to maintain their curvaceous figure and I say kudos to Jennifer Hudson because she is doing it the natural way - right diet and exercise.
As for me, I always find it hard to either diet or exercise. I don't know why I do not have the desire to do both of them.
In time probably...

Well, it's a common mistake to think that fat equals healthy, and people tend to call fat and chubby people "healthy looking", but being overweight is a risk for health. The standard of beauty is still being thin, but probably because a body without extra fat is more healthy looking, as really healthy as well.
In my case I prefer thin bodies because of this.

I would choose healthy of course. I belive that beauty comes from being healthy ( gives healthy radiant skin), confidant, stylish no matter what size yor are, love yourself. And i dont think that too thin is beautifull because the girl loses her shape ( front and behind!!).And that what makes her sexy.
