Do you have a favorite song from your religion?
I am a Chritian, but I tend to think a lot of the modern Christian songs are not so great. Two songs that I really like are "How Great Is Our God" and a japanese one called "Kimi wa Aisareru tame umareta (You were Born to be Loved)."
They are both very beautiful songs that I feel really connected with.

When my husband was sick and lying in the hospital, I used to sing this song before God everyday and tears were rolling down from my eyes. It is a Telugu devotional song on Lord Rama. It is a real incident happened long back. An administrator in a Nizam ruling kingdom in South India, called Ramdas, spends the money kept for administration of the kingdom on jewels to Lord Rama's idol. Nizam, (king) keeps him in jail. Ramdas sings on Lord Rama asking him to free him from the trouble and save him. It is soulful and emotional and touches the heart of eveyone. In the end, Lord Rama really appeared in front of the Nizam and paid the money in full. The jail is still there in the fort and whenever we go to Hyderabad, we go to the Golkonda Fort and watch the jail where Ramdas was prisoned. The song is in Telugu language, 'Etheerugananu dayajuchedavo' means how you are going to show your mercy on me. This is the link about the real story.

I actually have three songs that are tied for favorite. I have an old spiritual 79 record called "Didn't it Rain." When I was a kid I played it after any storm that rumbled through the area. I still play it sometimes. There's a song that my sister sang with another girl at a church concert. I don't know the name, but I love hearing her sing it and have it on cassette. A well known song that I love is called "Peace Be Still." It's what Jesus said to calm the storm. And that's why I like it. Whenever there is a storm in my life, I sometimes think of that song and what a cousin of mind used to shout, "Peace, be still!"

Yes our religion many meaningful and deeply stirring hymns and canticle. We repeat them often. It is not at the ceremonies alone that we sing. At times when we are alone, when we work or walk even in the company of family gatherings and with friends, it becomes a powerful expression of our friends. It is good either to compose or to bye heart some songs and hymns which attune the inner chords of our heart and psyche.
