I like watching movies on TV and also at the theatres when I have the time. I used to be a movie addict in those years, going to the theatres atleast three times a week. I would go to the theatres showing foreign movies too. Some of the foreign movies are so nice. One gets to see the enchanting cultures of the countries, and also the scenic beauties of the places in the countries. I really enjoy watching foreign movies. How about you ? Do you like watching foreign movies too ? Please share.

It's nice to know that you appreciate Filipino movies. I am not much of a fan of Filipino movies wven though I am a Filipino. Though there are really some good and award winning movies made in the Philippines, some locals are just not that into them and enjoys foreign movies the most.

That's very interesting. I do like watching foreign movies. But, I haven't had the chance to watch Philippino movies. I was in Manila once, but didn't have the time to go to movie theatre. Hopefully next time !

Yes, i love watching foreign movies. Its one excellent way to know well the society, what other people, from other parts of the world really think and feel. I mean, in an american documentary of , i dont know, Taiwan ; Although you see some things of they everyday life, you will see everything , with an american view...
But if you see a Taiwanese movie, from a Taiwanese director , you can really look lots and lots of things from their culture.

Hi greenline, I notice that you have added comments to your old discussions. I think you are coming back and doing myLot posts here again I would like to join in one of your old discussions here for I have some things about foreign movies to share with you here lol...
The local movie made here are quite limited and the actors actresses here are too familiar with. I like watching foreign movies other than those popular ones from China and western countries, movies from Hongkong, Korea, Taiwan, as well as Japan are my favorite too lol...It's rather sad that I don't have much time to indulge in them. Beside the great stories, fine acting, handsome appearances I enjoy some of the melodious themes and background music too. We can enjoy watching the fascinating landscapes from different places which from certain movies. Learn various lifestyle from movies shot in different regions. Unfortunately that I understand chines and english only therefore I have to read the subtitle to understand the conversation at the same time. It's sure that this will take my mind off the movies.
Happy posting and have a nice day

I can learn Korean language a little by a little watching the movie and reading the subtitles at the same time Although it's rather slow but every little makes a mickle. Yeah, from the movies I have watched I know Korean people pay great attention to their daily meals. Almost all of them are nutritious, healthy and hygienic. Not only so the dishes are perfect combination of color, aroma, taste and appearance

I really do enjoy watching foreign movies. I only go to the theater about once a year, so I don't normally see foreign movies or any movies really in the theater. But I have a Netflix account and I watch foreign movies through them. Subtitles don't get in the way of my enjoyment of the movie.

Hi Pam. Oh, you have a Netflix account. That's good. I have not subscribed to it yet. I suppose that would be a good way to watch a whole variety of movies. Have a nice time !

Well I do watch the occasional independent film or subtitled film and foreign film but the story really has to grab me I dont like just any foreign film.
I get bored easily if the story or plot is not good so yes I do enjoy some independent art house films, but it just depends.
As for my list of foreign films I'm not quite sure what classifies a film as foreign but here are some of the films I enjoyed.
Pan's Labyrinth didnt like the ending though but good
The piano great movie good soundtrack
Crouching tiger hidden dragon good story great martial arts
Diabolique the 1955 version great classic.

I love to watch good movies. This includes the ones that are made overseas. Most of the time they are with subtitles and that is alright. The one thing that is important to me is that there is a good plot and that the movie has some good meaning to it. Today, there are a great deal of foreign movies that are well made and India seems to be a great start as there are great actors and actresses coming from there.

While it isn't my #1 choice to go out and select a foreign movie to watch, I do watch them. I hate subtitles... but sometimes if the movie wasn't American to begin with, the storyline is better. For example, I love the Indian (original) version of 'The Eye' which is entitled 'Naina' because it had such a deeper meaning. Also, I like to watch the French version of 'High Tension' which is called 'Haute Tension'. But... I despiseeeeeeeeeeee Kung Fu and Chinese movies where they are talking... it is soooo IRRITATING to watch.

Yes, I understand what you are saying. Language is a barrier when watching foreign movies. One loses the scenes while reading the subtitles. A bit frustrating some times.

Yes, it is really an interesting eye opener to watch foreign films because it gives you a level of awareness of the culture, lifestyle, and hardships of a particular country. Movies give heart and soul to what you see on the headlines and documentaries at tv shows like CNN.

Sure ,i do like watching foreign movies ,especially U.S.A blockbusters .But i usually watch movies online instead of going to theatres .For one thing ,my house is far away from theatres in the city .For the other ,i can't afford tickets for movies .Fortunately ,the pic of online movies is not bad .I use to like watching action movies made in Hollywood .But now i am fond of literary films such as "the pursuit of happiness ","Forrest Gump" ,"the shawshank redemption " etc.oh ,i forgot to tell that i am not from English speaking countries .The main reason why i watch foreign movies is that i can improve my English throught it .
