Of course I turn off my pc before I goes to sleep. Who would want to waste electricity? And yes, it's to avoid overheating too. But in the office, since I downloaded the cashgopher there, I've learned to leave my net and pc open even if I leave work to let my cashgopher working. That is to add earning from that software. I hope nobody in the office would know that I'm wasting electricity. LOL!

Well, it depends. If it's still running something which needs a lot of time, then I will not turn it off. I would rather to let it running and get the result next morning. But for the PC at my bedroom, I turn it off every day cause if I don't do so, I may not have a nice sleep.

Turning it off it a preference. I personally have never turned my computers at home off as I have them on a network. This one I am using now is a laptop and I have not turned it off overnight in 4 years. My PC is is 3 years old and also have not turned it off if either.
See where I use to work I had to log into the server and if the PC was turned off no one could log in. That computer at work was on for 7 years. Have I seen a difference in my electric bill, no not at all. The PC go on idle mode and not running constantly. Could I get a virus, no I have symantec endpoint and well windows are closed while computer is on all night. My symantec I have owned for 8 years and I get live updates at 3 am every night so I am well protected.
So with respect to your discussion, I do not turn mine off I refresh it every now and again by doing a restart, that's all.

Well mas for me i mostly keep the computer awake for sometime because use torrents to download movies and since my net speed is slow in the morning and fast at night i download stuff mostly at night. After the download is complete i have a program which causes the computer to be switched off automatically so that energy can be saved.
Cheers!

Yes or no.
I will turn my computer off if nothing to do with it. But if I download something large, or convert a bunch of files, or encode a DVD, I will leave it on. No worry about overheating because I place a cooling kit and the room itself is cool enough with air conditioner. Plus, the processor itself can cut corner the electricity used.
