Well, I personally have a steady income, so I always divide it like this; 50% for money savings, 20% for phone / internet / electricity bills, and the rest is for my daily living.
Plus, I only purchase or buy goods that I need, not I want.

Some of the little things I do to save money:
I return cans and bottles
I buy high quality clothing so it doesn't fall apart after one wash cycle.
I ride my bike instead of driving
I buy "store branded" food
I borrow DVDs from friends and family instead of buying them

I live in Michigan. Some cans and bottles can be returned to the store for 10 cents each.

Hey I always save money by collecting money in my bank account. Yes I have opened a bank account called saving account. And I always try to deposited money in my bank account. This can help me in future when I really need of money.

I do it in many different ways. First of all, I have a certain amount automatically transferred from my salary to a savings account every month, so I do not even see all of my salary in my real account. I feel this really helps, since I never miss the money that goes into savings anyway.
I also keep a coin jar, which sounds weird and useless to a lot of people, but it really does add up!
And I try to keep track of my spending in order to see that nothing gets out of hand...

I think the best way to save money is by buying only what you need. I make a list of all the stuff that I need before I go to the supermarket. I avoid impulse buying. I buy only what I badly need. I try to reduce, reuse, and recycle so that I do not only save money, but help the earth as well. I sell whatever junk that I can sell.

That is indeed very good advice, clairie0411, a lot of people really do spend way too much money on stuff they really do not need. So I very much agree with this advice!
