would you shoot or wait?

I remember a conversation after my hubby got a gun about if I would actually shoot anyone if they were to come into our house. He taught me to use the gun in case I ever needed too and told me not to wait or hesitate. I said that I probably would wait to see if they where going to leave me be or try to hurt me... He said that in that time I could be hurt or even killed. It would be hard for me afterwards, if I just shoot because I wouldn't be sure if they came into my house because they were trying to steal food, things to survive or if they were actually there to hurt me. Im not sure what I would do. What would you do if someone was to walk into your house, and you had a gun... would you shoot or hesitate?

I would shoot, sweetie. That few seconds that you hesitate, can make a hell of a difference. TATA.

see i agree with you and him buttt.... Ive had people break in before and they didnt even know I was home. It was two little punks that wanted to steal a little girls change jar... and whatever else. They ran as soon as they saw me... I identified them and they went to jail. If I had shoot them, i just dont know what i would do.

Sweetie, whether it is 2 little punks that cannot really harm you or one or 2 mean a$$holes. What's the difference in that 2 seconds you will hesitate. I don't say, go out of your way shooting people, but you need to learn to always react and do things very fast. That 2 seconds will be the difference between your life and theirs. Sorry that sounded a bit harsh, but that is reality in today's life.

well, here in ontario (canada) it would be best to wait because if you shoot someone in your own house, chances are YOU will get charged for hurting that person. i know it sounds crazy, but thats the law.

You're right, that does sound crazy. Why do you specifically mention that you can be charged for shooting in your own house? Is it legal somewhere else?

that sucks... as long as they step into the house and your in danger you are allowed to shot here.

I would probably give the person a warning, but if he or she didn't leave and looked like they were going to hurt me or my family I would shoot them. Where I live the law is is on my side. My home is my sanctuary and I can legally stop anyone from trying to hurt me or my family.

You have some really good points. THINKING IS IMPORTANT!!! I think I would hide in a dark corner of the house or in a closet. Watch a while. It might also give you time to AIM. You can shoot someone without killing them.

Hi there Leiah. I believe i would shoot ! but not him :) shooting a warning shot should be enough to drive him off and if it isn't then you know that he is not there to cuddle and just take your chocolate chips if you know what i mean, so the legs would probably have to be next - immobilizing him would prevent him from hurting you.

Hey I will never shoot any person when he/she really walk in my home without my permission. Because it is crime to shoot any person without knowing any suitable reason. I think if he/she becomes thief then I want to call police for helps.
