Why not get rid of the internet instead of earning money online?

This is just a question I was curious about. If some of you out there are pinching pennies to the point that you're on the internet trying to make a mere few cents a day, less than $10 a month or so, what's your reasoning? Wouldn't it be better and save far MORE money to just get rid of your internet bill each month.
My internet bill is roughly $60 a month, and I know people who have lost their jobs on here looking desperately to find ways to make $10 a month to help pay for bills. In essence, it's costing those people $50 to make $10. The argument may be that the internet is a necessity, but with libraries, schools, etc...if they financial burden is so strong that you must try and earn a few pennies each night on the internet, perhaps it's time to reconsider even having the web available at home.
For me, I have a full time job, I use internet earnings as a side bonus, and I have no problem with people who do that. But, if I were to lose my job, the internet, satellite TV, and cellular phones would be the first to go.

My boyfriend also raised that point to me. That I pay more for the internet bill than earning in the net.
But my point is, I will always be in the internet anyway even if I am not earning. So why not use some part of my internet time earning money. It's not as if I'm just in the internet to earn, I also have other favorite sites that I visit too everyday.

I feel the same way. Even if I am online just surfing around or chatting I am always at the same time earning money. If I search for things I use mypoints where I get points for buying things or reading emails or search the internet. I earn money on all different sites doing various different things. I'm always online and while I'm chatting with friends I might as well do something constructive like earning money. I do not have cable television as it saves me $80 a year to not have it. I just use the cable for my internet connection which when I pay it by the year it winds up being around $40 a month.

I make far more than my internet connection cost, but even if I didn't, I can save that much each month by using internet coupons and looking up sales on things I need to buy anyway, besides getting some freebies, saving on long distance phone calls, reading the newspaper free online, reading books for free, watching free TV shows and so on.

At this point the internet is almost essential to everyday life. My boyfriend is working on getting a thorough background check done for his new job, and they keep in contact via e-mail. If I really had to cut off my connection I might end up spending all my time in a coffee shop with my laptop using their internet.

If this is where you get your main income and you spend much more than what you're earning online then its much better to just cut off your internet bills. However, with the technology that we have right now, Internet and computers became a necessity. But if you're earning online more than what you receive with your main job then better think twice.

Well without the internet I really have no connection to anyone or anything outside my house. I use aol and facebook to connect to people to chat with. I dont really get out to see people in person. I do not work so while I'm online chatting I do what little I can to earn some money. Yes if I cancelled my internet which is about $40 a month I would save a lot of money but for me I cant live without my internet so I try to find ways to make up for the $40 a month I spend on internet such as doing paid surveys and using mylot etc.

I keep the internet, mainly for my daughter. It is almost a must when you are a student. She is 16 and needs for so much of her homework. When I first got the internet, I got it because I had 3 kids at home and I worked full time as well as babysat my grandson full time. Running them all to the library every time they needed to use the computer was just too much so when I got my income tax one year, I just went for it. Now there is just my 16 yr old but she uses it an awful lot. I only have basic cable and neither one of us really watches all that much tv. We can't afford to go out and couldn't even if I got rid of the cable. So for me, not only is it practical to have the internet, it is a form of entertainment at home. If push came to shove, we would get rid of the cable but that is only 19.00 per month. If we had to then I suppose we would get rid of the internet as well but I hope we don't have to. I enjoy getting on here at night when I get out of work and my daughter enjoys it as well. I not only enjoy this but yes...I'm making money which does offset my costs. I mean what other form of entertainment could I get for 60.00 per month and possibly get a 10.00 discount? Still, I see your point. If I were not working full time then we'd have to just do without...like you said...they are not necessities...these things just make life a little more comfortable.

i think the having internet on the computer is not the problem. but the problem is there if someone especially take internet for making money online.
second making money on the internet is not difficult. you can earn some money but it also require time and skills, hardwork. its not that u login to internet and u will be able to make money.

Well for me I dont make a few cents a day but I can see your reasoning. I have made up to 500 dollars a month online so it def pays my internet bill (if I had one since my internet is included in my rent). I am guessing others need the internet for family, work, and who knows what else. Its a great way to connect and Ill never get rid of it. Have a great day!

I was once giving $20 for internet bills and get back $10 in my earning with other paid sites.
The problem is that I am lack of money to subscribe to my internet every month, so it has been barred sometimes and I have decided to go to cybercafe to do my work coz I won't be charge when I am not using the connection unless with the internet connection I have to pay a fixed amount every month.
Now I am going to cybercafe to do my work unless if that month I am earning higher I will subscribe back to my internet connection.
Have a nice day!

For me the internet has so many uses. I make it a point to earn extra money online so my internet bill will be self-liquidating. Yes, I also have a full-time job. For those who don't have regular jobs and are taking online earnings seriously, I'm sure their earnings are way more than just $10.

I am the same as you. I live wiht my parents, and as my mom is a programmer, we get free net anyway (but the most joke of a service ever!).
So for me, i just use it to earn a few pennies on the side, and i can do just about all my earning sites in around 10 minutes!
My only hassle is that 1 of the sites has to be done from my IP address. I tend to do the rest of the sites whilst at home.

That is a good point, but i am a college student still living at my parents place. I have no job so its easier to try to earn money online when i spend my time on the internet most of the time. Also, my mom is only paying $20 on our internet so its really not a bad deal.

There are many opportunities available online, even though there are even more scams. There are some who have found great success in their search for income opts and there are those who are just making a little extra income. The public and school computers have strict limitations to prevent abusive use: therefore, they are not very useful for making money online. We have various methods for making money and spend it in as many ways as we are different.

I don't think people are so dumb to loose their jobs for earning a 10 dollar here. Those who quit jobs surely have a back-up plan, they already make a decent amount of the internet and they must be surely weighing the pros and cons before taking such a important decisions. According to me most of the people who earn on the internet are either college going youngsters or housewives. People from all age group sure earn on the internet but they do it as a extra earning besides their jobs.
Internet is a great tool to make money and learn many things if used intelligently for that purpose. The agony is most of the people do now know how to use the internet to its best (I am also one of them :D). Getting rid of internet is surely going to be your losss unless and until you are a person who is not interested in this stuff and want a peaceful life with quality time to spend for your priorities. Getting Rid of internet also do have a lot of benefits though. But you just cannot deny that internet is here to stay and is a must for academic purposes and official uses.
