do any of you belong to any type of support group that you attend monthly, bi-monthly or even once a week? How about an on-line support group? i actually belong to a yahoo support group and have tried going to a support group and have even thought of starting my own at one point but the interest kind of fell appart when i was planning mine because another one in the city happens once a month and i funded by a hospital and run by 2 doctors. i had basically no financial backing. have you thought of running your own group?

I was making phone calls for a state health agency, it was a pole about arthritis. I had to call during rainy, high arthritic days. I have never been in sooo much pain in my life. Sitting there hour after hour with people describing their pain. I was soooo glad when I had contracts to fill to find out how people use Q-tip cotton swabs and if they like different coffee commercials. So I know how you feel and what you mean doormouse. I only talk about pain to my Dr. and only if I have to. I find taking my mind off my pain and/or troubles is way better than dwelling on it. Give me an old-fashioned comedy on tv, does me more good. If you manage to not be in pain for a change, it's time to go do something you've always wanted to do, not sit around and talk about pain. Like if I wanted to go to the movies, but was in pain. Finally out of pain, it's time to go to the movies, not go to a support group and talk about arthritis, fibromialgia, etc. Life is too short and filled with too few pain free moments to not seize the moments and go do what you want to do!

Huh, I think a women with children going through divorce support group would be pretty useful right now. Actually, I have a support group, but it's all online friends!

I just found out I have Fibro and would like to try a support group. I would like to be involved in one, just because I don't know much about what's going on with me. All I know is almost everyday I am in pain or have some kind of aches all over my body. I can't even go to work anymore. I'm only 25 years old and still have a life to live, but need a push to go. My primary doctor really doesn't know much about Fibromyalgia, so he really didn't give me information I needed to understand. Not sure though if I would like to listen to other people complain about there pain or what's going on in there life. I would want a group that would help you get your mind focused on the better things in life and how to cope with what's going on. I have searched my surrounding areas where I live and have found nothing for a support group. I would start something myself but I don't really know much myself at this point in time so I couldn't help other people. Maybe later when I get older I would try to start something in my area or online.

I don't belong to any support groups, but I think it would be cool to belong in one. I don't think I would need any help, but I would gladly help anybody needing mine. I do get depressed once in a while, and some people here on myLot have picked up the role of being my support group. And they are awesome!
