Things You Used to Believe When You Were a Child

When I was a child, maybe 4-6 years old, I used to believe that when I get a wound and it will not be treated immediately, rice will come out of it. Back then I imagined that rice coming out of my wound would be too gross and painful that whenever I get a wound I would cry a lot, not because it hurts but because I really believe that rice will come out of it. Turns out my parents are just scaring me so that I will be careful about hurting myself. How about you guys? Share things that you used to believe when you were a child that you later find out were not true.

I was very much afraid of eating any seed for fear it would grow into a plant or a tree. If it did I thought I would die if I didn't turn into a tree. Heehee

I thought for a second that you're gonna say that you're afraid to get appendicitis from eating seeds lol Anyway, that's also one of the popular myths I heard when I was a child. Thanks for sharing!

It sounds silly, but as a child I used to believe it too.

With mine, it's not rice but priest, my aunties would tell me if I don't let them clean or put band-aid on, that a priest would come out of the wound. Another one that I believed, was when you swallowed a fruit seed, that it will grow inside your stomach, and the branches would come out of your head. I was nervous when I accidentally swallowed star fruit's seed, and since then I've never eaten them, until of course, I knew that it's not true. During new year's eve, had to jump as high as I can to gain height. Used to believe that Santa Claus would only give presents to children who's not naughty. I believed in fairies, and would still want to believe that they do exist, creatures on another dimension.

I still do that new year's eve ritual of jumping to gain height. Even if I know it's not true, I still like doing it because it's fun!

When i was a child i use to think that there was a tooth fairy and that she would come and take a tooth from under my pillow, but only if i went to sleep, also that she left me money for the tooth, that she would make into a necklace.I was also told that there was a santa and that if i did not sleep xmas eve then i would not be left a gift or two aswell as that i had to leave a drink for santa and a carrot for rudolph. The things that our parents lied about, lol, now i say the same to my children, lol.

Thanks glad you like the question :) We're different in believing in fairy tales. I don't believe in the whole knight in shining armor thing because I don't want to be saved, I wanted to be the one who confronts the evil witch XD

My grandma wants us to go home very early so she scared us that there is a man that kidnapped little children cut off their heads and use children blood on bridges to make it stronger. Really scary...

Yeah I heard that too, I also thought it was true before. But then nothing of the sort was brought up in the news.

My parents tricked me into believing that chewing gum and toothpaste, if accidentally swallowed, would clog my intestines and then a doctor would have to remove it, using a fishing hook. (That was because I kept eating strawberry flavored toothpaste. It worked, they scared me into quitting the habit). Also, they kept saying that eating fish would make me smarter, so I asked for fish every evening, when I knew the day ahead in school would be a tough one. That turned into a good luck charm, even as a college student I ate fish the day before a major exam.
