Ok... so I've spent most of last night.... and all of today.... googling and searching the Internet for a possible unsecured personal loan that I can get with or without a cosigner. From citi financial to wells fargo to sallie mae to acg everywhere....I am tired of this... Struggling through this messed up economy and then there's not even any helping hands out to fix what is going on. Sometimes... I do feel where people are coming from by robbing banks and doing stuff like that because it pushes you to the brink of insanity!! I am trying to do so much with nothing.... Lord please have mercy on me.

I've got to believe that it is virtually impossible to get an unsecured loan these days with all of the hoops that you have to jump through to get a loan that is secured. We had a six figure line of credit on our home which we rarely used and always paid before the due date. When we sold our home and moved into our condo (which is completely paid for), we could only get a home equity loan if it was strictly in my name because my husband had a $121 disputed medical bill on his credit report. Can you believe that? All of the lenders that pulled this economy into the toilet by giving lending money to people who had no ability to pay it back are being so overly cautious today that it is amazing that they lend any money at all. I am surprised that this economy hasn't come to a total standstill. Good luck

That is crazy... I never really thought about it like that..(concerning the lenders) so you definitely brought something new to my attention. You and your husband are truly blessed to not have serious issues in this economy and can just pretty much sit back and watch it from afar. I have long given up on this search about an hour or so ago... Now all I can do is sit and pray. Thanks for sharing your views!!

We're retired so although our income stream isn't much, it will always be there. I pray every day for the poor families caught in this quagmire. We donate weekly to our church's program to feed the homeless and donate regularly to the food bank. For people in this country to go hungry is a national disgrace.

And for that... God will continue to bless you and your husband. My heart goes out to anyone in a financial bind right now and I pray that we all come out of it... and very soon. I don't think the country will hold like this.. for much longer.

The first place you should go to is your own bank. They are best placed to know your financial circumstances, your reliability in paying off the loan and to offer you the best deal. If you are looking for a way to consolidate various and sundry bills and debts, you should look for a debt consolidator: someone who will negotiate with your debtors for the best deal based on a discussion with you about how much you can afford to pay each month. This is usually a better deal than a 'consolidation loan'. You still have to pay a fee, of course, but this is often rather cheaper than the interest on a loan. Whatever kind of loan or deal you are looking for, you are nearly always better off dealing with someone locally and personally, even if you find them first through the Internet. Even if you are turned down by online applications, it is well worth going to talk with a real person. Don't forget that they don't OWE you a loan. You are ASKING them to trust you to repay it. The better you can convince them that you have an honest and realistic attitude to repayment, the more likely you are to get a deal.

I think that the US is in a much worse shape as far as loans go than the UK. We apparently have companies falling over each other to offer loans but, when it comes to the nitty gritty, they are really looking for people with some kind of security - either as a regular income or as something worthwhile which will secure the loan. You are definitely in a better position if you have SOMETHING to secure your loan against. Not a lot of help if you have nothing and debts which need meeting NOW, however debtors ARE prepared to negotiate and much more prepared to do so if you are using a respected debt consolidation firm as a mediator.

Well with all of that being said.... I guess that rules me out. I guess I'm left out here with everyone else who is struggling just to make ends meet to die. Thanks for all of that information!! Though helpful, very disappointing.

Hey I understand the struggles that you are having, I'm going through the same myself, so much more costs than money I actually have, and just keep going under and under into that black hole. I don't think you will find a good "unsecured loan" whatever that is, without going to your local mafia lol. If you were a loan shark I'm sure that you would want some kind of security or protection against your money. Best of luck! Lee.

I understand where you are coming from more than you know... and it's quite frustrating. I have given up on my search now... and I guess whatever happens... happens. I would try the Mafia if I knew some here lol... which is sad, but true. Good luck right back to you! Thanks for commenting!!

Oh Lord do I remember this. Last year was my final, hopefully to ever do this as college is not free and with economy being the way it is no lender at least in US is so willing to entrust that one can have great credit and be willing and ready to lend. This past year with all the abuse with the lending area has caused all lenders now to dot their i's and cross their t's. To where even your first born will not be enough anymore as collateral. It is virtually impossible to get loans in the US anymore because of all the prior schemes that unfortunately even the most well off and or okay credit will have to go through a great deal of investigative work prior to getting approval and that is if they can get it. Good luck to you, I do know what type of nightmare this is.

I got an unsecured line of credit last year at 10% interest for 9,000 so I could rebuild my Cobra's engine. I've always had a good financial standing with my bank though, so I usually get almost anything I inquire about. Again, I think the bank is the best bet to go.
