Are you living in the past, present or future?

Have you ever thought about how much time most people spend thinking about either the past or the future? Almost every day we hear someone say, "if I'd only done this" or "why did I do that? When we're not regretting the past, we are often worrying about the future. Is this how we want to spend our lives? The only time that we have is now, it was now when we were born, and it will be now when we die, and if we are going to enjoy life as we should, than we need to find a way to focus on the present. Are you someone who spends most of their time living in either the past or the future or one of the few who are enjoying the moment?

It is too late to do things about the things in the past.I look at here and now aswell as the future and what it holds for my family and myself.I think that there are too many people that live in the past, rather than looking at the things that are going on now, aswell as what they can be doing in the future.I would not want to know when i was going to die.

I am living in the present, but I do look back on the past a lot because many of the great things that we have today came from the past.

Hi,
I am living for my future and I always tell myself to
look forward in my life. Never look backwards.
Whatever things has happened,it was over and I should start again
with new energy for my life to go on.
Of course, I do feel regret sometimes on what happened in my
life, but for sure the TIME is not able to bring me back to the past
and I just need to accept the facts and carry on with my current life.

Hi Pose!
What comes to my mind as I read your post are children. They are just totally immersed in what they do. Unlike us, they just live in the present. There is truth in what you said.
I don't believe in living in the past. But I do think alot about my family, my children and our future. I wouldn't say that I'm living in the future either. It's just a hope as I work hard to achieve it.

Hi tomitomi, You make a very good point because children are the future, and thanks for reminding us of that. I agree too, that children are masters at living in the now and we can learn a lot from now. Anything that we can do to make a better future must be done now, and so often we forget that. Blessings.

I like to focus on the present but I learn from the past and I make my plans so that a bright future is ahead.

Is nice to plan for the future ,but let's enjoy the present since we can create wonderful memories from the past ,and great achievements for the future. Even going out with your loved ones to eat ice cream can be really fun.

I'm treasuring every moment I have on this world. Dwelling on the past is no good for your mind and you can't move on! There's no use regretting when you did not even put in any effort in the first time! That's why, they say 'no use crying over spilt milk'. How true this saying is. Well for me, there are times when I regretted but I came to realize that it was wasting my life and energy away. Thinking of the past will only make you older and you won't be able to improve on anything, seriously. As humans, it's more important to do things right THE FIRST TIME! No matter what, give our best shot! We should also have goals and think of our future, aim high and far so that these goals will empower us to do our best! I've got to emphasize on this, whatever you do, do your best. Don't regret. You must think of how to do better again when you can't make it for something.

Hi JudgeIronFist, Thank you for sharing your thoughts here and we agree that bemoaning what we did or didn't do in the past in a waste of both time and energy. We must focus on the moment as it's the only time we have to do anything. We create our future now. Blessings.

Good evening dear friend Pose123 , actually i think it only comes natural to think from time to time like " Why have i done like this " or "i wish i'd knew before " , or "only if i'd knew" , or "why have i done it like this" , these types of phrases for me are prhases said so he cann understand and learn from what he or she have done in the past , so they cann repeat ( if a good result has comed from what he have done ) or so they cann be able to avoid , based on the experience they've had with the certain think he had done before.
I wish i would of had alot more thingz to add , but i dont , since i am less experienced , i am pretty young and ready to learn from these great and genuin Mylot members.
I wish you a great evening dear Pose123

Hi Florin, I agree with you it's very natural to think about the past. The important thing however, to not to spend so much time regretting the past, that we fail to do what needs to be done today. Learn from the past and move on, but remember that everything you are going to do must be done today, now, it's the only time there is. Don't worry about the future, what you do today determines you future. Blessings.

I am one of the person who spends my time living in the past. It's not that i regret what i did in the past. It's just the past makes me who i am now. Forgetting what i learned from my mistakes in the past would only make me repeat them. Although i would like to live in the moment as well as think about my future, my past is too important to me to let it go.

Hi falconn, Thank you for sharing your thoughts and that is an interesting way of looking at things. I reminisce about the past sometimes but to spent time and energy regretting the past would be taking away from the only time I have to improve things, which is now. Blessings.

Your welcome. Living in the past doesn't really mean that you're regretting what you have done. It just meant that there were important memories in your past that you want to cherish so you look back at them. For me, my memory that i cherish was learning from my mistakes so i look back on them. I don't necessarily regret them.

I have to confess I am a past dweller! I don't even think about the future, that for me is too frightening and being a pessimist I don't look to the future with hope, so I spend my life in the past, yes I admit I hold my hands up to deep regret, anger, hate, all stems from the past, I do live from day to day and I do a lot of work on myself, I also do therapy so in theory I cannot escape the past when in therapy most of the work is about the past and coming to terms with it. My past has been pretty horrific and unless I can put a closure to it I will continue to live in the past. Nothing can change it, I can't reverse it but it still has a deep impact on who I am today and how I life my life.

Hi wolfie, Thank you for sharing this and I truly hope that you can work though whatever is holding you to the past. I know too that only you can do this. We have discussed this before and I continue to think of you, always holding to the thought that things well improve. Try to remember that thoughts are things and see if you can find something to be grateful for everyday. Blessings.

I am living in present and always learn from my past because sometimes in past I have done many mistakes so now again I don’t want to do it. So I always learn from my past. And think about my future for my planning for my carrier. I think every person have planned their future to what to do in future. So I have also some planning for my future.
