I have this from a movie, and although it might sound cruel, in a way it's actually true. When a person is in love, and notices that the other isn't as much, he tries to do everything he can to make it work. And so, giving the one who doesn't show much love, "more" power over the other. It twakes some maturity, and familiarity with each other, for this not to happen to a relationship.
