Is Water can be considered as food? I've seen some shows, documentaries around the world, some history in some country, they just drink water because they don't have much food to eat. I too, sometimes do the same thing, everytime i feel hungry, and can't find any food to eat, i just drink water. So, i was wondering, why when i am hungry and i just have to drink some water, i feel better. Just confused.

water is filling, however, it is not considered food. water has 0 calories, and therefore provides no energy for the human body to use. water is an essential need for the human body, but is completely diffrent than food. food has calories, food has energy, and food has the ability to fill you up for a substantial amt. of time.

I believe water is food because by definition is any nourishing substance that is eaten, drunk or otherwise taken into the body to sustain life, provide energy and promote growth.

Your basic nutritional needs are met by "Food and Water",so they're regarded as distinctly separate things...Though water can fill your stomach, there's no nutritional value in it.It'll be used in your body to remove waste from your cells ,regulate the thickness of your blood, regulate body temperature as sweat, show your emotional state with tears,etc..and though it has to meet quality standards of purity and mineral composition for bottling and sale, and is necessary for life, you will eventually starve on water alone,so it's not considered a food.

two things u need to understand water is the second most important source of life after oxygen. if u dont have food u can be alive for months but if u dont have water u cannot survive even weaks. second thing some times its out hypnosis that we are hungry. our body requires about 2000 calories minimum to survive and a small piece of cake has 800. so there is not problem that we are consuming less food. so sometimes water works as food. and also it cleans out system so it function well. ie. it uses resources properly so u need less.

Well, water is not a food but a drink. If you drink water your stomach will have the sensation of beeing full, as it's filled with liquid, but it's only temporary.
In some countries they try to get rid of the feeling of hunger that way, but water only is not nutritive enough to survive only on that. Eventualy you need food too.

Water definitely is not a food. It's a beverage or drink whatever you prefer. You don't feel hungry when you drink water because water also takes up space in our stomach like food. Also, we humans are require to drink a lot of water so its natural to feel satisfied after drinking water.

I don't think water is considered food since it got no nutrients to sustain our body's daily function. Of course it does rehydrate our bodies but cannot be a supplement for food. Drink water for one day and don't eat any food. You'll feel very week by the day's end.

Just as ample03 mentioned, I believe water is not food because it has no calories. It is important too though because it is essential in bodily processes. When you're hungry and you drink water, you can feel full and better because the water you drank occupies and distends your stomach. But later on, you'll still feel hungry because the body hasn't had the nutrients it needs from food yet.

Hi there,
i think water is not food, although we needed it to our body. But i don't think it will categorized under food. I'm not sure the exact amount of water in our body i just know that we have lots of water inside and we need more. We need oxygen, water and food in our body that's how we can live normally.
