It’s always fun when you watch a show and you don’t read any news about it online. I was in for some surprises when I watched this episode!
The bombing at the funeral was so unexpected my heart skipped a beat, and I don’t usually do that. I thought CSI Nick, when he saw the cockroaches near an SUV, will find a decaying body. And then, when he saw it was a bomb, I thought he was going to die (you know how quickly this TV shows can kill of a character!). And then the casket exploded?! The title was fitting! What a shocker!
The investigation of the bombing leads them to a group of Americans who are anti-government, and who do I see? Justin Bieber! WTF? Is he an actor now? I do admit some of his songs are catchy, and I don’t really hate him that much (how can you hate someone you don’t pay attention to?), but his acting on this episode was terrible. I bet high school kids in a stage drama can act better than him. I don’t mind artists jumping around the different genres of entertainment, but they must do it properly. How on Earth did he get the part? Did he even audition? The scariest part is that we might see more of him in the future, what with his cryptic smile at the end of the show. Crap. Well he better learn how to act when he appears again.
At the end of the previous season, Dr. Ray Langston was stabbed by Dr. Jeckyll (that’s how they spell it). We see in this episode that he survives and will recover fully, minus a kidney. His injuries doesn’t stop him though from doing his work, and so we see him helping out the CSI’s in a hospital room using a laptop. What a great character.
The other characters seem to be losing “depth”. Or I’m losing interest with them. I think only Langston and Nick had some backstory to deal with. The others are just “existing” right now, which is unfortunate because they’re great characters. The writers need to write a new plot for Greg, Catherine, and Sara. Maybe Greg wants to be a detective now and have him train under Brass? (is that even possible?) How about bring back Gil for a few episodes as a guest star as they try to solve a multi-episode crime?
CSI’s 11th season started with a bang. Literally. I hope they end it the same way as well.

Okay, first of all, I love your Justin Bieber blabber. And just for the record, I agree with you on that! I also really thought that they were going to kill Nicky. But it is sad how some characters seem to be stuck without a plot. I hope they find something for them in the future episodes. I really am glad that Sara is back, and my favorite part of the whole episode was Sara's "Like Gandhi, I turned the other cheek. Just wasn't mine." Classic Sara wit.
