I was brought up in a church that said we had to speak in unknown tounges?

Hi Verocity and welcome to my lot. No where in the King James bible does it say that we will speak in unknown tounges. But it does say in Luke 21:1-15 that we shall be delivered up before the anti christ and shall testify. But it won't be us speaking it will be the Holy Spirit speaking through us and even the adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. Acts 2:1-7And when the day of pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from Heaven as of a rushing mighty wind they, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tounges like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tounges (languages), as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devot men, out of every nation under Heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marvelled saying one to another behold, are not all these which speak Gal-i-lae'-ans? This is for false teachers of Gods word. Revelation 22:18 For I ttestify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book. If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 1 Peter4:17 For the time that judgement must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end of them that obey not the gospel of God? Hi Verocity. God says that we should learn and understand HIS word. God don't want any of us to be unlearned in HIS word. God created us to do HIS work in bringing the truth to all! Revelations means to reveal so that says to me that God wants us to read and understand all HIS words not just what is convient to know. You are right God does love you and all HIS creations that is why HE gave us all a brain to think and to learn what is HIS plan for our lives. No matter how it is translated tounges means to speak in a different language other then what we were born with. We will all go to Heaven to face our LORD God! To stand before God for judgement one day!

Good point free man, it seems the Bible doesn't cover tongues that deeply. Tongues can be taken as a couple different things as I see it. When we get up to heaven this is one thing I'll find out about 100% for sure. It doesn't bother me that I don't fully understand it, God still loves me, and us, regardless. Also, I'm still going to heaven regardless!

Hi Praristyle. The gift of speaking in tounges will be when those that are chosen by God to stand before the anti christ. Those will speak in tongues but it will be known by all because it won't be them speaking it will be the Holy Spirit speaking through them and everyone even the gainsayers will know what is being said! Because it will be spoken by the Holy Spirit and it will be said even in every dialect of every language of every county of everyones own language!

Hi Payout. I know what your saying you believe I know I have felt the Holy Spirit many times but never spoke in unknown tounges. It says in the bible Luke 21;15 Christ speaking HE says,For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. It don't say anywhere in Gods word that we will speak in unknown tounges.
