The purpose of selecting the best answer is to recognize the best talent and wisdom of the respondent who deserves it. It too gives a psychological boost and stimulus to someone who has made extraordinary contribution to satisfy the curiosity and expectation of the initiator of the discussion. I try my best to look for the befitting response to my discussion and award the best answer only when I find somebody to have conveyed creative ideas and unique talent through his/her answer.

I always choose the best response after a week. It will be fair to offer more time for people to share their opinions. And choosing the best response is a kind of appreciation to the people who have responded to my discussion. It is a kind of encouragement.

Hi thebest1, for a regular user here for a few year, I have started less than a hundred of discussion. I thin it's considered to be a user who is quite sluggish in writing new discussion. To me it needs time to take good care of a discussion started for I have to leave comments on every response received and then to pick a best response among them. It's rather tough if the discussion receives a great number of responses. Worse still if there is more than a response is showing similar excellent representation. It is rather time consuming to judge
on the square which is the best among them.
I dislike to see any of my discussion sitting in the unresolved discussion area. Therefore I usually would pick the best one and mark it as the best response after certain period, like a few weeks or month depending on the situation. I'm happy to see that there are BR available in all the discussions I have started respectively
Happy posting

I usually select the best answer as soon as I find a content that was useful to me. But sometimes I get a better comment or responds after selecting the best answer well it really doesn't count when the answer sheet is submitted after the exam is over. does it

Yes I always select a response which I choose as best response from my discussions. But sometimes I have got much response and then it is difficult to select a response for a best response because then there are many good responses. So then I take help from my friends. And we discussed about which I should choose for best response.

I do, not because I really know if it helps anyone, but I think MyLot wants us to do it, and I also see it as a way to compliment people who really contibuted to the discussion, so I don't mind...

As much as possible I try to select the best answer as a way of thanks to the poster who contributed a lot to the discussion I started.
When I'm selecting the best answer, I consider the content of the post and not because of its length.
