This happened to me last summer.
I've never given first aid but I have received it. It was at the beach and it was so hot. I had been playing beach volley when I started feeling dizzy...
I stopped playing but it didn't help at all. Suddenly everything went black and the next thing I knew I was lying on the sand sorrounded by worried faces looking at me.
My friends, then, helped me to sit and they put my legs up on a rock and after a while I started to feel a bit better.
The whole thing was terribly embarrassing, and everyone kept on asking me if I was all right for the rest of the day..
Have you ever given/received first aid?

In my college days we had this event in our school which is intramurals. We get to compete in sports by teams. I was not so active on playing sports in school so I decided to be part of the first aider. My assignment was to monitor and give first aid to players that participate in the track & field and basketball. By chance, I did performed first aid to one of the players who got his ankle sprained. I did make sure to put some ice on it and keep it rested to prevent further injury. Well, giving first aid to others needs knowledge and skills. And I think we should not perform one if we do not know what we are doing. Better call for medical assistance and keep the injured safe and secure.

I never had a major major injuries in my life, if i get cut or got burn from my previous job i just have to put something that would make me feel better, like bandage, or ointment sometimes cream to ease the pain. No one not in my life offer some help or given me a first aid..nobody..

Oh, well I'm glad to hear you're ok! Sometimes it's just too much sun and heat and then the body says "that's enough!"
This also happened to me although I did not need first aid. I was playing volleyball on the beach when we were camping. It was really a hot day and I overdid it. I felt very dizzy and ended up walking off the court and straight into the water to cool off. After I dipped my head in and sat down in the water I felt better within minutes. I think if I didn't do this I would have fainted also. But, everyone was right there watching me in case something happened. Scary wasn't it!

Hi there,
As far as i remember the last time i got first aid was during the time i donate a blood for red cross. The policy was if you donate blog you should lay on bed for an hour or more so that everything will back into normal. In my experienced i easily get up for 30 minutes i guess because i felt that i am not dizzy at all. When we go out in that place about few steps i feel i was dizzy so my friends took me in one room so that i can relax. After i sit down i don't know what happened next. But they said i was really dizzy so they transferred me again in another room so that i can lay down again and position my feet upper than my body. And that's really help my dizziness was gone, thanks to my friends =)

I performed CPR on a man with no vital signs for over 8 minutes before the ambulance arrived. I was circulating his blood for him as his face went from purple when I got to him to a normal, healthy colour, but the paramedics could not get his heart to work again on its own and he didn't make it.
As a side note, if someone learned first aid in the seventh grade, that person needs to recertify. The first aid protocol is revised every 5 years to take advantage of current medical knowledge, not to mention that it is impossible to remember everything after that long, especially if you haven't been practicing. I review my training every 3 months (I'm a lifeguard)
