im beginning to wonder if it is our ability to make decisions and choice, because it seems like a lot of people make terrible decisions. Think about all of the crooked people in our economy and political systems. How are we supposed to compete with big wigs and other people who are destroying something by being so immoral? If being able to choose makes us human, then why are so many humans choosing destructive things, to kill, to steal, to lie? Especially on a scale that hurts so many people. What are we to do?

Actually, I think a lot of people who I would sometimes regard as sub-human (if the human being is assumed to be some awesome, powerful, compassionate being) are "super humans" in our society ie. they have an obscene amount of money that 99% of the population could never hope to see in a lifetime, perhaps even in a couple of lifetimes. I'm talking actors, politicians, wall streeters, etc. I'm not saying they don't work hard or have families to feed, but is it really necessary for single households (or a couple, or just ONE person) to have $50, $100, $500 million, for instance?
I know this is America and capitalism and land of opportunity and all that, but this is like Marie Antoinette buying jewelry while the peasants are outside the castle gates starving. And you know what happened to HER.

Thinking about that has always made me sick! It's like how much money becomes an ungodly amount, like, an unfathomable, so much its useless amount?
Why do people think that they deserve a $45,000 membership fee to a golf course? Thats real you know. But why does any one person seriously have such an ego to belief they are worth that? Why do the believe they need that much money?
Why can't they look outside of themselves and use all of that money and power to freakin fix anything?
And don't get me started about peasant starving outside the castle gate.
Totally dig your answer.

Hello Bettemachete! The discussion you opened is very delicate, and until this point i think that being human is our ability to know what is good and bad, and to choose the good part. The problem is that some people only see the good part for theirself and choose without thinking at enyoneelse. I think thachoosing the best for ourself without harming the others is beinh Humman all about

I agree that people pick whats best for themselves over what is best for everyone. But that is such a troubling idea, how we are disconnected and people cannot see past themselves and their own needs.
I bet companies know this, and probably just use it against us. I wonder how many studies have been done surrounding people's choices.
I wish there was a way to get through to these people and teach them to do better.
