http://www.foxcarolina.com/health/25167062/detail.html The headline reads... $93K Cancer Drug: How Much Is A Life Worth? That made me start thinking!!! (YES...VERY DANGEROUS) As afraid as most people are to die, I don't have many friends who could afford $100,000/year for the meds to stay alive. Then I go back to read the article & found that the $100,000 will only extend a life by maybe 4 months. I don't earn $25,000 per month!!!! So, I have to ask...what is YOUR life worth & how would you come up with the money for the treatment...or would you be able to come up with the money for the treatment...or would you even try for a 4 month reprieve???

This amount seems rediculous. I wonder if there isn't help of some kind for people who need this kind of expensive medications. Can't get a generic brand? Can't they get on Medicaid? Isn't there some resolution for these people? Or is there a different treatment completely for these people? Surely there are some options some where.

I don't think I'll spend $100,000 just to extend my life for 4 months, even though I have that amount of money, I don't think it's worth it. Though life is precious, and we should seize our time, I think it's better to live our lives into fullness NOW, and not wait until we are sick and dying then only we "steal" some time by paying such a big amount of money to someone. I'd rather give the money to someone in need if I really have that money. Sometimes I also think, instead of suffering myself for the treatment, and staying in the hospital, why not I go and do something more meaningful till the end of my life?

Very well spoken!!! I would rather send a needy child who has their whole life ahead of them to college than waste it on a life that is in the process of ending!!!

Yeah, I saw that this morning, too. I don't think I'd go for it.

Yes, we are ALL worth all the riches of this world!!! However, we are ALL worthy of the riches of the Kingdom of God also & we should NOT fear entering into that Kingdom!!!! It is your right to determine your need for this treatment; but I find it selfish to leave your loved ones without you & burdened with debt!!! I do NOT fear entering my Heavenly home & feel that $100,000 that I don't have is a WASTE of assets & unnecessary pain for those left behind!!! If this could guarantee 20-30 years of an enjoyable, cancer-free life, I would say go for it. However 4 months goes by so fast, I find it a waste of money that could be used for other WONDERFUL things!!! Believe me, I'd make my choice NOT because I feel I'm not worthy, it's just that I feel it is more logical!!!! If I can come up with $100,000 at the end of my life, I'd prefer to leave it to those I love to help ease their pain!!!

It makes me mad that our world operates on these terms. There is no reason for it.Its the greed and selfishness and peoples belief in the dollar over themselves, and taking care of each other. You know why we should take care of sick people? Because they are sick. Bottom line. But instead, our society enjoys $45,000 dollar a year golf club memberships, mansions and stupid material crap, and we make money off of sick people! Why dont the rich people have a conscious? how much money should one person be able to own? why dont they do something to change things?
