I have no issues when it comes to overtime pay at work, etc.. sometimes well you just don't feel like staying at work more than your usual 9 hour work right. but what about you? when you stretch your day to extend to another hour or more, does your company pay you your overtime?
Ours have about 30 minute limit so when we reach 30 minutes, it can be charged to OT... but well i know some companies that my friends work to and they do not get paid on their overtimes... sometimes they were even asked to come in to work on saturday morning - unpaid!
Would you allow your company to do this to you?

Where I work now I don`t have to do overtime , but at the old job we had to stay overtime about 1-2 hours every day . The firm payd us TRIPLE for the overtime hours and for sundays likewise , so it was pretty good , regarding the salary , but it was a lot of work .

ha, I'm an exempt employee - no overtime. The benefit is that if I need to take off for a doctor appointment or something, I can't be docked for it.

We do have paid overtime. I work for the Courts but because of our mayor running out budget almost $100 million over we have been on a pay freeze for three years. No raises, no overtime, nothing.
And eventhough I work for a city office the pay is not great. I wish we had overtime again. At this point in this economy my family needs it.

In the company i'm working, overtime is not a problem. We have an 8hr/day, 5 days/week work. However, we do stay at the office to finish all the day's work and be ready for the next day for mostly 10 hours and yet we don't charge the company for the overtime. I also reported on Saturdays (we are closed during saturdays and sundays)daily for at least two hours. We don't ask for any monetary compensation for the extra hours we render.

I am working in an electronics company and often times i work overtime but i am unpaid. I am only 1 year in our company and that is my first job. actually, i am sometimes work 5-8 hours in excess of my regular hours and i am unpaid. it is hard, but i just see it differently. Because of that, i will be more competent in my next job and i will find company which will give better treatment to their employees

During my previous work, there was no overtime. We worked on 24 hour shift and also have a 24 hours off duty. There are times that we worked more than the 24 hour period yet do not receive any payment for overtime. I worked for such job for about 13 years but I never complain since I love the job and its very fulfilling. But now, I am no longer working with the group. I now work on my own. I am my own boss and the great thing is that I choose when I want to work or not...

The company I work for pays over-time. We get 1.5 times our normal pay rate for all hours worked per week over 40 hours. For instance, I make $9.00/hour as my normal pay rate, but when I get over-time pay, I make $13.50/hour. I make enough to survive, but that is about it. LOL

It is fortunate that I am working from home, but if something like that happened to my office then I would never let it. We humans have to be valued accordingly.
There are a lot of companies doing "illegal" thing like that, especially Japanese company. Not companies in central city, but those places where appointed as factory and labor area.

Actually its against the labor law for company for not paying those OT and should be double pay if its non working day. It really depends on the person if he wants to earn more money.

There are position levels where you will not receive payments for OT. Managers and up, in our company do not receive OT pay anymore. But the company cannot force anyone to work OT without pay. The employees in our company are such fighters that they will troop to the Labor Dept to complain if the company will do this.

Hi there chiyosan, I am a registered nurse here in my country and am working in a private clinic. Sometimes my work extend to more than 8 hours of my regular schedule. Normally it would be credited as on overtime. But unfortunately, I do not get paid with it. Yes, it really sound so frustrating when your employer does not pay you. In my case, I do not have a choice because I really need a job and it is so hard to find work nowadays especially there are so many competing in my field. Hopefully someday I could find the job or work that actually gives better benefits and pay than my current work.

No, my company that I work for does not pay for overtime. So, when quitting time comes I shut down my computer, clean off my desk and I'm out of there. My boss doesn't expect me to do overtime either and will often rush me out of the office on Fridays. I'm not joking, she pops her head in my office and says come on girl its time to get out of here the weekend awaits! She is a very nice lady to work for, she is not the owner but the Executive Director and has run the business for years. I don't work weekends but we have started to open on weekends, I have not been asked to work weekends and hope they don't start expecting me too because it is my time with my kids.
