Do you daydream excessively?

I do. Sometimes I can't focus on anything because I'm so busy daydreaming. This usually happens in week long spurts where all I want to do is listen to music and let my mind wonder to some weird place. Sometimes these daydreams are unpleasant and cause me to cry. So why do I do this? I just don't know.
What about you? Do you ever find yourself so deep in a daydream that you can't concentrate on anything else?

I catch myself daydreaming practically everyday. It'll just start with a thought and before I know it I'm being dragged out of my thoughts by someone calling my name. lol.

Yeah.. I get that too... but more often I start off watching a movie, and it will trigger a daydream that I won't come out of until the credits are rolling!! I miss more movies that way...

lol...that probably gets tiring- missing movies that way. I also get annoy when I'm torn out of my daydream and I want to return to it but I really can't. Its different when you're consciously trying to daydream about a specific thing.

It must be very liberating to never day dream. I find that it consumes a lot of my time. Fortunately I started this discussion a while ago, and have found that I am now more in control.
Thank you for your response :)

I don't think there's anything wrong with daydreaming. It shows you have a creative mind, raring to express and explode with ideas. Dreams are the seeds of our reality. Our acheivements were once products of our dreams. But as they say, balance is the key. Dreaming is no use when there is no action. So balance the time you spend dreaming, then acting on it! You're well on your way, so go for it!

I would agree with you if these daydreams didn't become unpleasant. I think that may have something to do with my PTSD. I think in terms of positive daydreaming you are absolutely correct.

I daydream alot. I enjoy escaping reality and imagining the possibilities of it all. I think it helps me to be the creative person I am. Also to just relax and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

I daydreamed a lot in school about lunch back 5 years ago. Now my daydreams are about my son and how i need to re-organize something.. It's kinda cool to see how different phases of life bringing different dreams.

Yes, I do daydream... a lot. Sometimes, I feel the same way as you are when listening to music but the most common thing that I usually experience is the lack of focus especially when I'm reading. Day dreaming isn't quite helpful when you need total concentration.

I think I've been through this phase before. Specially back in the day, when I was still in school, and facing a boring teacher, or a boring subject. I feel that I am wasting my time, so I day dream. Thinking of what my life will be, and how I could make it better.
Unfortunately, as you get older, you get more responsibilities, and less time to daydream. So, don't worry about it, I think it's just natural.

when i am free and have nothing else to do, daydreaming will be my preferred. i like to let my mind float and imagine about something my way, something crazy or unrealistic. it is a way to motivate me when it tells me that i still can dream and i have a dream. sometimes i did release a lot of stress while daydreaming. life is not like what we thought, but we still can dream right? it should be something good.

I do (always have) find my self daydreaming almost all the time. Sometimes, my dream world and the real world can co-exist at the same time. You may be talking with me, but you don't know that in my mind, I'm talking to another person, too! But, yes, it's a bit distracting, especially at work.

The more I venture out online the more of a zombie I feel. Some days I stare at the screen as if I was trying to examine all the fibers inside the monitor. I suppose my brain is going off into a deep daydream hoping I were not doing what I do online.
The only way around that is to take a breather and somehow pre-occupy , sometimes it helps and sometimes it does not.
