Its the anniversary of one of the worst typhoon that ever hit our country, ONDOY.
I was working in Makati at that time and did Triple Shifts due to no one has been able to come to work. I started working 5:45 am of September 26 and only got home 8:00 am the following day.
Everything is so quiet when and people are cleaning all the debris. The underground passages of Makati was overflowing with water and cannot be passed. There are even cars that got stuck because it flooded. Everywhere flooded.
Even to the places that flood was never been experienced. I take God for though our house was in Valenzuela, one of the most flooded areas in Metro Manila there were okay. But our apartment near a creek was not spared. Our dog, a pitbull was in the water for almost all night and we cannot get to him since the water rose above 5 feet. Good thing that our apartment has its own gate and a he has his leash so he stayed inside otherwise he'd be swept by the current. Thankfully no one was hurt except materials lost.
Guys, what happened to you when this disaster hit you last year? And what did you do stand from this trial?

It was a Saturday so we slept late! We were supposed to go home for the weekend but when we left the condo. There is flood everywhere so we got stuck in the condo...
It made me realize the perks of living in a condo. Because we didn't have an electricity failure and food is still there despite the flood...

I was about to leave and go to the Fitness First Robinson's Midtown to attend the hip hop aerobics. While I am preparing there was already flood inside our bathroom so I didn't continue to go but still expecting that the heavy rain will stop so I could do it later. We really used to have floods outside our home which is the compound, so having floods is really a normal fact to us every time there is a heavy rain. But this one is different it never stops until I was surprised that it was already at a high level which is above the knee. This was the first time that happened in our place because usually it is just above our feet or below the knee at least. I think it was only 2 to 3 feet. My Dad fix all the things and put it up with the help of our construction workers at the other house. Then he decided to put off the electricity before the flood got inside the home. We were all transfered to my brother's house because even our maids can't use their bedroom downstairs. In my brother's house at least the ground is higher compare to our house but unfortunately we can't use the bathroom so almost all of us are suffering of not making pee. My sister in law was pregnant at that time then after the day she already have the UTI. I was not able to take a bath so I really felt itchy. My brother has 2 bedrooms in his house but we are more or less 10 people inside the house then my Uncle came with her visitor. All of us are sleeping in one king size bed and we are 4 at first then became 5 because my brother lied beside us when he saw a space. But my Dad just slept on our house it happens that I didn't sleep on my own bedroom since there was no electricity. I was complaining that I wasn't able to go to the gym but then I realize that there is much a bigger problem compare to my case. All we can hear and see on computer is that Cristine Reyes is asking for rescue.

we were actually having a family outing in monte vista, laguna and we got stuck there until night but we need to leave already so we went home amidst the traffic and flood... we even have to push the truck we are using and also became a traffic aid because most of the drivers and people there are actually taking advantage of each other...

Here in Davao City, we never really experienced strong typhoons like Ondoy. We only encounter strong rainfall but we are typhoon free every year. Experts say that our huge mountains which surround our city protect us from being devastated of strong typhoons. I noticed that whenever Luzon is experiencing typhoons, we are experiencing hot days here in our city. I felt sad about the devastation of Ondoy. Most of the universities here encouraged their students to donate for the victims. Even if I am far away from the affected areas, I hope my donation have helped somehow. I've been to Luzon many times because I have relatives there. What I observed from a bird's eye view when I am inside the airplane is that whenever we are already arriving in Manila, the view is dominated with color brown unlike the view when I departed from Davao which is color green.

we are one of the lucky people to survive in that typhoon. Even though that we are residing at place where it centers, our house not been damaged. We are blessed to live in a 3-story house. So we decide to help our neighbor to transfer some of their important valuables and give them shelter for a few days. Every time we look back on that situation,it reminds us how thankful we are and how God's grace upon us.

Actually we experience being flooded for the first time inside the house but its our kitchen and dining and my room was only flooded due that its located on a lower floor but its only feet deep easy to clean. I was all day sleep because I was on a night shift duty at my work. As I wake up I was shocked that my room is flooded.

It was pretty scary because we thought the rain would not stop. We are on a higher ground so we have no problem, as far as flood is concerned but the rain was so strong we were frightened the roof might give in.
Anyway, we were saddened by what happened in Metro Manila. Initially, it was a normal sight - rain = flood in MM, but when casualties where reported(and there were many), you couldn't help but feel sad that this had to happen.
