I think it is a toss up between a brave new world by aldous huxley and the giver by louis lowry. I read the giver in the 4th grade and it really change my life. It opened me up to concepts about the word I had never considered or known about. Much later, a brave new world builded on those ideas.

I read a couple of years ago "quo vadis" recommended by a friend of mine, it`s pretty large, and very interesting. Is about the way that christians were sacrified in the Roman Arena for the romans entertainment. The christians were staying in the arena, waiting for the lions to come and eat them, men, women, children, this is a very cruel thing.

It was "Who moved my Cheese" by Dr. Spencer Johnson. I was in a really bad shape then. Scheduled for an open abdomen surgery with a very dicey chance of survival I thought the end of the world as I knew it was imminent. Then this book came my way and transformed me. I took the message of this book to heart and started to see new ways of adapting to the situation. I survives as you know, and am living a life as productive as I can manage. Things are not as bad when you know that you can cope.

For me it was The Alchemist by Paul Coelho. It is a nice story by a shepherd who wanted to roam around the world. He gets his wish and he works hard for it. Cheers!
