In my Country, we firmly believe that re-birth does take place till we are in a position to fulfill the work for which God has given us birth as human being. The cylcle goes on. We also believe that all our good work are rewarded in the present or next life. Similarly, we are punished by God for all our bad deeds. Only problem is that we do not know how we would be rewarded or punished in our next birth. That is the reason most of the people do not belive on this theory. However, I am a firm believer even though I do not know what would happen to me in my next birth. There are number of stories when small children narrated experiences of their previous birth and, upon verification, they were found to be true.
(Late) Dr. Ian Stevenson who was earlier at University of Virginia had carried out indepth investigation on this matter. His book 'Twenty Cases Suggestive of Re-incarnation'

I believe that it might be possible for people to reincarnate, but I don't know how possible it is.

Although my religion doesn't teach me to believe in re-incarnation, I do. I read a fascinating book about 15 years ago. Can't recall the name but it was based on a regression experience of the author Taylor Caldwell. Throughout the process, Taylor recounted past lives that were verifiable and in one regression even spoke in French although she had never had any education or experience in the language. The author of the book tape recorded all of the session and even after listening to the tapes, Caldwell did not believe it and instead insisted that it had to be her imagination at work.
