Some of you may remember that we got our first cat back in February. Well, today we lost him. I'm not sure what happened to him, but when I got home from running some errands today I heard him crying, but I couldn't find him. I knew that he hadn't been feeling well and we were supposed to go to the vet's office tomorrow for a check-up. Well, Tom got home from work to run to the bank and he got to looking for him. He had passed away in the little drawer under our stove.
It is really sad, I loved that cat.

dorannmwin,
I am sorry for your loss but I think I am just as curious as you are, as to how it ended up in the little drawer under your stove.
I hope that it did not pick up an infection because if it did, you will have to be careful that the infection does not spread to your family or another pet or cat in your house.
Out of comfort, I am sure it knows that all of you had loved and cared.
Take care.

Well, he used to sleep behind the stove because he was always a contortionist. I guess he just contorted his way into the back of the drawer. As far as our other kitty, she is on preventative antibiotics because the vet really doesn't know what happened to Cornbread.

I'm sorry to hear that you lost two of your beloved babies. I know the struggle that you must have gone through.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to lose a treasured pet. I lost my cat Bogie 7 years ago to kidney disease. It broke my heart to lose him. He was family. I have a girl kitty now and can't imagine life without her, even though she can be mean and intrusive at times. At other times she can be so sweet and cuddly.
Do you think you will get another cat anytime in the future?

I really don't think that we will have a choice. We have Buttercup which is our kitten and she seems so sad and lonely without her big brother here. We will probably get a new kitty sooner than later for her health.

That is okay, it happens to all of us when we are trying to multitask.

I am sorry to hear about your cat. It is hard to lose a pet. I am dreading the day that something happens to one of my pups. My dogs are like my kids, and I know it will really hurt if something happens to one of them.

We are a multipet family as well and I have a dog that is 11 years old. I absolutely dread the day that something happens to her because she was my baby before I really had babies of my own.

Michela is still my baby as well, but she really doesn't demand as much of me as Kathryn and Paul do.

I've lost 2 cats this year, and the 3rd had to be sent to my FIL's because my property manager forced us to get rid of him. We're really mad about it.

That would make me really mad as well. I'm lucky that we have our own home where we are able to have as many pets as we would like. Now, I don't intend to go overboard, but I really like having pets as a part of our family.

We had two cats and two dogs. Of course, my oldest dog is 11 years old now, so I really don't know how much longer she will be with us. I also do know as well that we will get another dog when something happens to her.

Thank you so much. There will come a day that I'm headed in the same direction and at that moment he will quit playing with all of the other pets and run back to me and we will cross over together.

Sorry to hear about your kitty.
Such an odd spot for him to pass away too. I guess that would explain why you could not figure out where he was, nonetheless how he got in there.

Well, those little drawers under the stove are open in the back, so I have to assume that he climbed in from the back. Why he chose that spot, I don't know unless it was because he didn't want anyone to see him.

iam so sorry. any idea at all what could have been wrong? if he had a disease and you have other cats by now, you should have them checked just to be safe. sorry for your loss, hes so cute.

Really no clue on what could have happened to him. The vet thought he had allergies and that was why he had a runny nose. However, now she has got Buttercup on preventative antibiotics, just in case. So far Buttercup is doing okay, although I have to admit it is hard to get the meds in her mouth because she is so feisty.

What was his sickness? i hope he didn't die in that little drawer? didn't he? but no matter what happens, it wasn't your fault. probably, it was his time. something must have happened to him when you lost him the first time out there. surely what ever happened before you found him, got him sick for sure. . he will be missed. that's why cats can't go outside, too dangerous i think....

I have to say that I agree with you on cats being outside. Actually, my husband and I fought about this because his family has always had indoor/outdoor cats and I'd never had one before, but his being outside made me paranoid. I guess it was for good reason too.

I'm getting better. I still miss him, of course, but I know that his spirit is around here somewhere, probably hunting for the mice that I loved so much.

oh my dorannmwin thats so sad and he was so cute too. I don't know
what to say. Its awful to lose ones cat like that. Perhaps later'on you
might try to get another cat but it will take time first as your little cannot really be replaced. I am also a cat lover but I do not have enough nmoney left each month to pay the extra fee here for ha ving a cat.

I can completely understand about not having the extra money to have a cat with you where you live. It is hard to replace a beloved pet because they are a member of our family, but it is something that will be done. You see, we have another cat, Buttercup and she just hasn't been the same since.

Oh my, sorry to hear that. You must be feeling terrible :( I've not owned any pets before because of my asthma but I know what it feels to lose a beloved pet. After all it has been your companion and it passed away just like that. It's so cute too. Anyway, bless the cat for a good afterlife and I hope you'll recover from your sadness soon!

I know that I will be able to recover from my sadness. I've been there before with members of my family and I've been able to recover from that so I know I'll be able to recover this time.

He isn't lost as in run away, he passed away, but I'm sure that you are right in a sense, I know that his soul is somewhere where he is free to roam and play.
