Is it strange that there are three of us that has psoriasis.I have had this skin complaint since i was 14 years old.Another friend of mine has had hers for four years. My other friend has had hers for nearly 6 or 8 weeks, she has been told that hers would go after 6 or 8 weeks,as hers is due to her getting a throat infection and thats why she has got it.I have to jab myself twice a week to keep mine under control,i find it strange how different peoples psoriasis is treated, aswell as the different types you can get. They do say that stress can cause psoriasis and so can depression, these are causes for the sudden out breaks.

Food allergies is another reason. I know when I totally eliminated milk and milk products from my diet for more than 3 months, the symptoms were almost gone. But who wants to live without cheese?

I have tried to cut out certain foods in the past. One of the food i have cut out was yeast based as that can cause some people problems aswell, but that never made any difference.I have tried all different things over the years and nothing has managed to keep my skin under control, other than these injections that i am on.

It's strange how different things work for different people, isn't it?

I was also diagnosed with psoriasis one year ago - oddly, after having worked for many years in the same building with a clinic specialized in the treatment of psoriasis. This got me thinking that it might be contagious. My doctor keeps telling me that this is just my paranoid nature, and it's not contagious in any way.
I used to worry about it a lot in the beginning, I was worried that I might pass it to the children I work with, or that it might spread all over the skin, thinking I would have to hide myself and never leave the house ever again because of it... I even had nightmares that I was turning into a snake covered with scales (yes, I know snakes don't have scales, but my nightmares don't).
After I stopped worrying so much - combined with the fact that the most stressful period of my life is slowly coming to an end - the outbreaks got less severe. I use a combination of factors to keep it under control, including diet and all sort of creams to reduce the symptoms.

Psoriasis is not catching,as if it was my ex husband,my husband, also my children would all have it,not just a few friends. They do say that it can be hereditory, but saying that noone in my family have never had it.I tried all the creams, lotions and pills and none of them seemed to help, that is why i have injections as i also have psoratic arthritis thanks to me having psoriasis.

Stress and depression seem to cause a lot of problems. God said he would take care of us. If you remind yourself of this and believe, maybe your physical problems will get better.

I'd never had any psoriasis in my life before this summer. But this summer I developed some as well. It was mostly on my hands and I found the technical name for the type that I had, although it escapes me right now. Mine, however, is highly correlated with being in the sun and also spending a lot of time in a swimming pool. I've known that I was mildly allergic to chlorine for quite a while now, but this is the first time that I've had this kind of a reaction to it.

Hiya jugs,
One of my Sons had psoriasis in the Scalp and it took me ages to get rid of it for him I had to pay and see one of those very good Specialists otherwise to this Day he would still have it.
His Scalp was so bad it would bleed.
I went to two of these Specialists and the last one was the best he gave me the best medicine and it got cured and never came back ever after that but it was really bad I can tell you.
My Husband had a very stressful Job and when he gave it up on medical advice the Scalp cleared up too and has never come back either.
Hope you find a cure for yours too.

Do you have homeopathy clinics around you? Homeopathy gave me relief from psoriasis once. Your friend has what is called Guttate psoriasis. I recommend you take a homeopathic medicine called Graphite 30c. 30c is the potency of the medicine. It will surely help you. If Graphites does not aggravate your conditins one or two days after taking it then you should try Sulphur 30c. Homeopathic medicines first increase your symptoms and then cure you.

I have an itchy back of all places and the doctor told me it could be a mild case of psoriasis if there is such a thing as a mild case. He prescribed antibiotics and it cleared up although it is starting to come back so I too may have to make changes to my diet. It’s a very aggravating condition and not so uncommon by the sound of it.

Terrible. I never have had psoriasis. My grandma did and her dentist gave her a foam to clear it up.
I hope yours is doing ok.

My hubby has psoriasis. My daughter has eczema. We got this stuff from Australia - the only country that apparently does research on eczema. It's a product named Graham's . . . and it's supposed to help with eczema AND psoriasis. I think a key ingredient is emu oil of all things. Anyway, my daughter has a fear of stinging lotions - so we haven't really used it on her, but hubby has used it on his psoriasis and it's literally going away (for now). It's a bit pricey, but well worth it!! I don't think I can put any links, but look up Grahams for eczema and psoriasis in Australia . . . worth a shot anyway!

My older brother had psoriasis when he was young, and it's really a hard disease to cure. The doctor told him to eat dishes only cooked by sesame oil and cannot eat any meat for two years. Then after two years he got well at all.I don't know whether this method can have some effects on you but you may have a try, anyway the method does no harm to your health.
Hope you can recover soon!

From what i know, it's a condition which involves the skin. It's not a serious condition to some but it's quite inconvenient for others who's like u. The skins will keep peeling just like fish scales. U should see a doctor to ask why your condition has worsen when u have been on medication for the past few years. I don't see much stress in u, from all your start posts, so i don't think it's caused by stress.

How does it happen to anybody? It seems like u and your friends are getting it together around the same time. Is it contengious? I cant imagine u having this problem for 14 years? Isn't it inconvenient for u with those scaly skin? I think there should be more than one treatment for this condition because like u said, it's partly caused by stress.
People like u might need long term medication while those with occasional pop ups, only need jabs as it's not serious.

I don't know much about psoriasis. It is odd that two of your friends have it also. It's not contagious is it? How could a throat infection cause it? So your friends have the same kind of problems you do? Is there any hope of yours going away also? Stress can cause SO many things.

The exact cause of psoriasis remains unknown. there may be a combination of factors, including genetic predisposition and environmental factors. It is common for psoriasis to be found in members of the same family. The immune system is thought to play a major role. Despite research over the past 25 yrs looking at many triggers, psoriasis is still a mystery.

My dad has psoriasis too. It is right when you said that stress is one of the causes of psoriasis. It is also hereditary, and that's how my father got them. I hope I wont though.. But the real main reason for that is really stress. You can have a parent who has psoriasis and still prevent yourself from having one, by being stress free.

Hi, jugsjugs
I'm a little worry about you that you have psoriasis now. Please don't jab them, because this way can leave a scar to you. But don't worry to much about this problem, because this is a common disease, most of people had the experiences more or less. Maybe you need see a doctor, and take some medicine. Good luck!
