How much does adding interests help?

There seem to be thousands of interests to select from.
The whole process is slow, unorganized and tedious,
To add new interests to your profile.
Especially if you have to create a new one.
I want to know:
How much does going through and adding a bunch of interests
Actually help in the long run to increase your earnings?

It basically makes it so you get more discussions that suit your interests.If you select a lot of technological interests then you will get almost all technology releated questions as the option of your interests.You can always change this and it is a real easy thing to do , i do agree that it takes alot of time to change but it is neccessary in order to get accurate results.
