Does Wisdom Come From God or Mistakes?

Where does foolishness end and Godly wisdom begin? Can wisdom be taught or is it only through mistakes that wisdom is gained? Should a man seek his own counsel to show God what he can do when times are tough or shun the teachings of those who've gone before? Proverbs 2:1-8 - My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones. Proverbs 1:7 - The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

Be who you must! It's a part of the plan! Free choice is very important. It doesn't matter whether you listen to the wisdom of others because consequences of your actions will teach you the way regardless. Everything you do will come back to you in time to teach you just what your actions really mean. Of course to listen to the wisdom of others might save you some hard lessons. Some, however just must learn the hard way. Finally,if you think God is One to be feared, then you simply do not know God. God is Unconditional Love. Fear is not the beginning of knowledge. Ask scientists if it is fear that drives them.

It's true that we all have done foolish things in our lives, and it's also true that you should try to teach those who insist on experiencing for themselves. Who knows, you might just say the right thing that gets them to thinking. Here is a link to the definition of fear. Check out number four. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fear

We needed the teachings from God so as to learn what are the common rules and mistakes. But sometimes mistakes are unavoidable and cause us to suffer. When we suffer and when times seems hopeless, we will then seek again the teachings from God to enlighten us and learn to cope. It is like people telling you that chocolate cake is delicious but without tasting it, you won't know what is the true understanding of it.

There are mistakes made through no fault of our own and God is there to comfort us in these times; but when you know something is a mistake in the making, and you yield to it, that's just foolishness.

We learn from our mistakes for sure, but if we hear God's ways and counsel, we don't need to get into any kind of mistake, which might be hard for us to cope up. We run our own course and end up in a mess, even if we are able to get out of it, it would still be a bad experience for us. The better option is to accept God's words and stay away from troubles, the trouble which we ourselves can create. As humans, we live in a world of mistakes, we cannot undo that, but sure can avoid some by divine counsel.

Divine counsel and the counsel of those who have gone before or have themselves experienced, is a wise way to avoid mistakes.

Our wisdom does not come from only one source. But it all comes from One ultimate source.

Wisdom comes from both. In Proverbs 2:1-8 the Lord is giving some wisdom on how to seek wisdom. By taking His words to heart, and storing up His commands we begin to see and understand more clearly the wisdom in His words. Wisdom also comes from making mistakes as well. If we make a mistake and see the error of our ways, then we learn. Being able to learn from our mistakes is wisdom also,... as long as we don't repeat those same things over. There is much to be gained from realizing the error of our ways. As one gains wisdom through storing up the Lord's commands and listening to His voice we begin to see more clearly and avoid making the more blundering mistakes.

Wisdom, as indicated by the verses you quote, must be actively sought after and actively given by God. A person can make mistakes and never learn if he never realizes his mistakes, desires to change and then seeks out the lesson that results. Also, a person can actively observe other's mistakes and seek a way to avoid them for himself, thus learning the ways of wise living designed by God. However, beyond these ways of learning, wisdom can be asked of by God, who gives freely (see James chapter 1).

Solomon asked for wisdom and God was very pleased with him and gave him even more than what he asked. Wisdom is a gift, I believe, God would like all of us to seek.

I think wisdom comes after doing mistakes. And it is the started of a person's wisdom. I think after doing mistakes a person can gain experience about mistakes. And again he/she never do this in his/her life. So I think wisdom comes after doing mistakes. Do you agree with me or not?

I can't say that I agree with you. I do believe one may learn from their mistakes, but I believe God can give us wisdom (if we ask Him for it) before mistakes are made.

Yes, wisdom comes from God and is not a mistakes. Wisdom can be gained if it is ask. Asking for wisdom is not always given to everyone who ask for it but it always depends on HIS will. Wisdom is gift and gift is not given to all. Only God has the choice to give this gift to someone.

Wisdom seems like the kind of gift God would want to give to all who ask. Of course, He could think, "I gave you a brain, use it."

"...too much in this life"? That seems like an odd statement.
