One Year After Ondoy

It's the first anniversary of the Ondoy tragedy(I am making it sound like it's a happy thing) and the focus is nowhere near the real problem. Our focus is on the infrastructure that must be made in order to prevent another occurrence of this tragedy. This is well and good but, no matter how good your structures are, it will be a waste if people have no discipline. The real cause of the tragedy is the lack of discipline of people.

At the day of Ondoy, we were stuck in our condo. I guess being in a condo paid off 'coz we had food and emergency lights plus none of our things got buried in the flood...

Yes, condo living has its positives. I always think that condos are not good investments as you will not be owning lands. But in some way, like you've mentioned, you can get positives from them.

Hi pinoy, global flooding is the result of mankind's abuse of the environment. We Filipinos were not spared because we truly did not take care of our trees and our forests, our esteros and our garbage, ecetera. Ondoy is a wake up call. I think the launch on no littering in Metro Manila had been implemented. And the National Housing Authority is relocating our squatters. There are also drainage diggings in some highways. I do hope that we could carry everything out and avoid another Ondoy. My neighbors and I had planted some trees in our vicinity. Hopefully, our little effort could make a big difference.
