You'll more likely to catch a cold from being close to people who've got one or who have recently had one.
I've got a cold at the moment which I've got from my Mum.
I've never gotten a cold from going out in the freezing cold or going out with hair a bit damp from my morning shower even on the coldest of days.

Hi, no you can not catch a cold from having wet hair or going outside with your hair wet.You get colds from being around of sick people, coming in contact with germs on door knobs, phones, keyboards etc that sick people have touched. Just wash your hands alot.. When I cooked in a kitchen I went 7-8 years without calling out sick. I beleive it was from always washing my hands and sanitizing the area. When I did not cook anymore then I would catch more colds, cause I was not always near a sink and had to touch more phones, doorknobs, keyboards etc..

Unfortunately my children were told in Science class that this is not the way to catch a cold. A cold is caused by a bacteria. But I would think going out with wet hair or without a jacket can help get the process going. It could cause the throat to become a little sore and then maybe the immune system would begin to be a little more susceptible to illness.

Hi. gjax57. Yes. It is possible that a person can catch a cold in these ways. I never will wash my hair and then step out into the freezing and cold weather. That is a big no no! When I took a shower the other day. I went outside and it was a little chilly. I did not have a jacket on my arms. I went into the air just like that. And by the next morning, I caught a cold in my throat. I have a scratchy throat right now. I had a slight sore throat at first though. I won't be trying this again.
