Do you have a friend who sings badly? Would you tell them the truth?

If you have a friend who thinks he or she can sing (and you think they are REALLY awful) ... they want to go on AMERICAN IDOL and try out ... would you tell them what you really think?

Hahahaha.. Yes I have! But she knows already!! Most of the time we're (trying to) sing together and it sounds horrifying!!!!!!!!! We both know that we can't sing, but it's too much fun and we can't help it........

As long as this person is not jeopardising hs future is ok to support his dream. The bad thing is that you will have to listening him all the time

When my husband tries to sing, I tell him to stick to something he can do, like dancing. He can keep the beat, just not the tune. I think I would try to tell my friend with as much care of their feelings as possible. Some people are tone deaf and I believe that they truly don't realize it.

My husband is a terrible singer, he is always two seconds behind the music and I tell him all the time :)

Well that is right up there with would you tell them if they had bad odor or bad breath..lol It would be a tricky situation because if they are your friends you don't want to offend them in any way or they will be mad at you and not talk ot you again. So maybe suggesting a singing coach to tone up your friends vocals would be good and let the coach tell the friend or record them singing and play it back to them maybe they aren't hearing themselves as they sing because they are to focused on the music and words..Or you can take the joking way out and say off hand you sing at American Idol Simon eats people like you for breakfast.. whatever you do decide tread carefully and good luck...

No I wouldn't tell them. I would rather Simon tell them. That would be hilarious.

Yes I think so I will tell thm the truth rather than watching her make a fool of herself. if she is my friend she will listen to me and respect what I say.Only thing is I have to chose my words carefully as to not to hurt her too much. If she still chooses to go I will support her and never afterwards tell her "I told you so".

I would tell them its better for them to hear it from me someone who knows them and who wont be rude instead of going and getting embarrassed
