If you were on a diet, do you feel guilty if you dont stick to it?

If I am having my two meals only per day diet and I have taken some snacks in between meals, I really feel guilty about it because all of my efforts from the day I started the diet will just be gone or put to waste. I just make up with it by not eating the other time of meal that I have and instead just take small snack that is supposed to be a meal that particular day. I really feel guilty as well if I ate lots of chocolates if I am on a strict diet. because for sure I will gain some weight that I have been trying to lose and now will be failed for just one single act that I have done which is just eating lots of chocolates alone. But sometimes, only sometimes, I just don't really mind it as long as I am happy eating what I really want.

I feel really guilty after eating something that I shouldn't have. But I have such a huge sweet tooth that this does happen very often. There are times when I can control myself but then it's like the food is talking to me and I can't help it. But I think that it's natural to feel quilty. Sometimes after I eat what I wasn't supposed to eat I look at the wrapper or the plate and I wonder "Why couldn't I just have closed my mouth?". But when you're eating the sinfully tasty chocolate cookie or the mouth watering chocolate cake all you can feel is bliss.

Exactly! That is the same feeling that I am having once I am already eating those foods that I really wanted. It's just like I don't care at all if ever I get fat since I will have lots of time in the future to make it less. And I also think that I am still so if I gain weight then It will just be fine because it will be minimal. But actually, after I have eaten it, I will start to feel guilty about it. It is a matter of self discipline as well. It is also a test or challenge for us how to control ourselves. Thank you for sharing. This is really a nice response.

I think that we all feel guilty when we cheat or don't stick to our diet. Rather, we should pick ourselves up and just try to do better. I think that part of the problem is that we eliminate our favorite foods, promising ourselves that when we lose the weight that we want to lose that we will be able to enjoy those foods again. As a result we feel deprived and want that food even more. The key to successful dieting is to realize that you have to make a permanent lifestyle change and we should enjoy all foods but in moderation

Yes you are absolutely right. Every food should be taken in moderation and completely change our lifestyle especially your eating habits to gain the desired figure that we want. We should also exercise regularly not only to stay sexy but to keep ourselves fit and healthy. Thank you for the nice response.

Ofcourse I will feel guilty as I had started strict diet ...then I could not stick to that ...but when I had some thing more then my diet then I usually try to avoid the next meal so that I can cover up the diet...or some times when I am out and with somebody and not in the position to tell them that I am on diet and have to had high calories and fatty food then I try to avoid next meal and drink lots of water ..then exercise and in the mean time I just feel to bad that why I could not tell them.

Thank you for the nice response. Yes this is what I do sometimes. Just like you I avoid eating the next meal or just take a small amount of food to cover it up.

You really wanna lose weight? So you should feel guilty, otherwise you could not achieve your purpose. If you are a casual person, don't care too much, just eat what you want that could make you happy, happiness is more important than fat i believe. I don't think one decides to lose weight with the method of eating less is reasonable.Just take more exercises, you'll feel better.^^Chocolate is a good thing, take a little but not many.

I constantly have the feelings of guilty for overeating or didn't stick to my diet plan, and even would punish myself by taking a lot of exercise or ban myself from a meal and such things. Sometimes I do scold myself for craving for snacks and high-fat foods. Such things happened ever since I began to put my weight-losing plan into reality. Anyhow, after several months' endurance and one whole year's preservation I've successfully kept my weight between 48 and 49kg. Not big fluctuations any more. Oh I forget to mention I'm only 160cm :) so my height and weight proportion is just the standard average now. Of course there are a lot more girls of my height who are much thinner, I don't envy their figures. I think my current figure is the best, neither fat nor thin. NOw I'm keeping rather balance diet and exercise habbit. Eat properly, contains more fruits and vegetables, try to exercise every 2 or 3 days for 30 or 40min. Healthy and beautiful, yeah, it is not just the change of weight, but diet and life habbit, then I'll benefit a whole lifetime. from waazula.com

Alot of times yes.. Sometimes, one loses the promise to lose weight rather than losing the weight literally.. I once believed in diet but came to understand that the best way to lose the extra pounds is through exercise. I have seen quite a number of people who direct themselves on dieting alone but look extremely tired and different that sometimes they look better before even with the extra pounds. I must say that the most important thing about dieting is yes, sticking with the discipline, getting enough sleep and exercise.. Works wonders and you'll never feel guilty about it.. =))

I use to feel very guilty when I could not stick to a diet and I have been on many! I'd start out optimistic, then after the newness wears off I want my old food and I go overboard once I break the diet. I have been reading a lot of the responses here and the ones I do agree with are those that say to exercise. I "accidently" lost 35 lbs by taking a jogging class at school. I was not at all trying to diet, so I did not change my eating habits at first. Later, as I did the jogging more, my appetite changed on it's own. First I did not desire as much food, then I started to desire more healthy foods. Unfortunately that was several years ago and I have gone back to old habits (and weight gain), but out of everything I have ever tried, that was the only thing that worked.

No, not really. I love to eat. But sometimes I tend to control it by dieting, which never work. I find that it's better to let myself eat and find other ways to lose weight. I don't want to be in a situation where one day I could no longer eat certain food and regret for holding myself back. I'll be more guilty then. So, I'll eat but I'll exercise or cut on calories instead of dieting.

I don't feel guilty. The couple times I have dieted and "cheated" I actually lost more weight those weeks. You body becomes used to the crap you put in it and in it's own way needs it. Sometimes the best thing to do when your on a diet, is to give youself a break sometimes

i haven't experienced dieting. i just always say that "Oh, I'm a diet" but my diet never really changes. I still eat whati want to eat. anyway, my advice is not to lessen meals but change what you eat. just eat veggies and fruits. no matter how much you eat you won't get fat. That's what they tell me. But i never tried it.

I will really feel bad if i would not follow my diet. Especially when you have been working on it for a long time. I have tried many forms of diet but i still failed to follow it. That's why I dont diet anymore. LOL!! However, you can always try to go back to your diet if you failed to stick to it. Just go back if you failed to follow your diet for how many days. You can always do that.

Yes guys, I am here. I am totally with you. I really feel bad about myself if I deprive myself of eating what I really want. So to stop doing injustice to myself then I should quit my 2 meal per day diet because I also feel guilty too if I dont stick with it so it is just the same also with depriving myself. I was just away from the computer for quite some time and been very busy a lot. Thank you for the nice response.
