friends and followers

i have seen followers on the front page of many websites what is the difference between friends and followers.?

I think followers is a less involved term. I can follow someone's ministry, business, or anything else without having a direct relationship with them. I think friend probably means a little more interaction... but that's just thinking..

Freinds are members who like what you posted and anytime you add information to that page of the website your friends can view the changes.
Followers are those who anytime you add a page, update, comment and anything new they will get every bit of what is posted to your site.
