Well now I feel like "Tootsie" ever seen that movie? anyway, ive never done it before, but yesterday I lied to get a survey job ive wanted since '03! you see my daughter in law back then done surveys for this place. she got 20 bucks at least 3 to 4 times a month in the mail from them. PLUS, full size products to test! ive applied to them several times over the yrs to do this. it finally dawned on me that they only cater to the young women. so, i applied again, as my grand daughter whos only 22 yrs. I got excepted!! its the only survey spot ive ever really wanted as its the only one ive ever seen really pays good. So, do you think i can pull it off? would you lie to get a job?

I guess I've lied in similar situations. Surveys always ask whether someone in the household works in the healthcare industry and I always mark no, even though my mom is a registered nurse. I don't know if I'd lie in a real job interview though. I think you can pull off your survey job no problem. They'll never catch on.

I think it is sad that we have to do this. But so true (and by the way LOVED Tootsie!!) these days. Have seen other discussions saying how hard it is to be accepted to jobs, survey sites and even to get apartments, housing, etc these days. It seems they can be very selective and "prejudiced" as long as they don't have to be held accountable? Would I lie to get a job? I don't know. Depends on the lie and the job, etc. I suppose. And the major thing about my having that opinion today, is that just last year I would have said NO WAY would I EVER do that! Again, sad.

I'm not sure I would do that but I might. Pretending to be younger than I am and giving them opinions of a person my age would actually be beneficial to their product, I think. I've actually been thinking about doing that.
What's the name of the company that does those surveys? You can PM it to me if you like.

sadly, dragon its the one i tried to sign up from your pm before. and again they had refused me for my age. so, when i got an email saying they were recruiting for women from 18 to 24, i got that idea. they wouldnt know so dont tell on me. ok?

I did actually. I had set a goal for myself of working at Sears in Customer Service a few years ago. I got my first interview and I took the quiz and answered it other than how I honestly would have. I got the job. I worked for them for just afew months before my got diagnosed with cancer. I took a part time job so I could spend time with her in the Nursing Home.

I don't know. I don't lie and I know they want certain responses from certain people, but still....if you are answering for your grand daughter and she does whatever it is they want done (like wear the garment etc) then I guess why not? What difference does it make if it is you doing the "leg work" or her? As long as the answers are hers which is what they are looking for.
I have been trying for years to get on Pincone Research (if that is what it is called, can't remember anymore!) applied over and over and over and they never repsonded with anything as to why they didn't want me. I did find out later it was my age... but I didn't bother to go back and fake it, as I figure, they might compare with my previous apps and put two and two together and I wouldn't get it anyway.

well i hope they dont do that. as i figure anyway, how much worse off could i be? i mean they never gave me the job anyway, so if i loose it whats the difference, right?

For an actual job, I don't think that I would ever lie. However, when it comes to some of these surveys that I've tried to take over the years, there are lots of times that I will lie to try to get into them. You see, I used to live in a household with many, many people and when I am taking surveys these days, I will occasionally include my nieces as part of my household. Of course the only reason that I did that was because of the fact that they used to spend more time with me than they did their parents.

Hiya bunnybon,
I loved that Film "Tootsie" was´nt he just great in that and "Mrs Doubtfire" too.
Personally I would not do that but if you feel you can do it well why not?
After all I don´t see what harm you would be doing.
I say that because I can only imagine what they do.
They send you real products through the Post to try right and you give your actual opinion. How I wish I could get something like that here wishful thinking (grin).
Bunnybon you go for it and you can only try it and see what happens.
Best of luck and think of what you can spend your Cash on.

Haha I did. I'm currently working as a game spy for a certain game, whereas we need to be adults (18+) and stuff. I'm 16, so I said like I'm 18 and stuff and got accepted. Until now I'm still working for them and so far I think I've impressed the Game Masters quite a lot, so when I like tried to resign last week they didn't want me to do so x.x

yay...good for you. thus proving that if a place is being biased about age requirment, they could miss out on a very good worker.

In all honesty I reckon most people have lied to get jobs, I mean it's so easy to alter grades on your exams, I have done, changed C's to B's, especially if the particular subject is wanted by the particular employer! It depends on the nature of the lie really, obviously you can't lie about your age or other major stuff about you, but as to experience, most have 'winged' it and said yeah they can do this or that and they can't! It's whether you have the confidence in yourself to push through a lie and being a good liar! Personally honesty isn't always the best policy and in this world it's dog eat dog, survival of the fitest and after all don't most politicians lie? That's their forte after all. I hope you do pull it off good luck to you!

Hi! I can related to the situation. I've done it over at odesk when they said that one of the job requirements was to have at least 100 logged hours on odesk. Mine is only a wee 11 hours. So what did I do? Whatelse? Since I also had a lot of fixed rate jobs and the employer would not be able to determine how many hours I did those jobs, I said that I had more than a hundred hours in total because my fixed rate work although not logged was more than the required amount. Actually, it was just around 50 or so. It's basically easier to pull it off online because they can't really check out the details of your personality or the data you are providing. I just make sure not to leave any loose ends hanging around. And as expected, I got the job!

good for you. that will teach them to be biased. when you can do the job just as well as a 100 hrs person.

No, I have never lied to get a job, I would be too afraid I would get caught and then get fired. There was a time when I was in college trying to finish my degree. I wanted to apply to this company but you had to have a college degree...even though I had all the experience. I did think about lying and saying I already finished my degree as I was only about 4 classes away from graduating. I just couldn't do it. I figured it would be worse to get fired, found out, and then fired. Of course with a survey type of job, I guess that would be difference. I mean, it is bead enough that they are discriminating anyways, wanting only young people. Go for it! Good luck.

No harm.... If your profile avatar is a lie then what's the harm in lying just to get that survey job. There's hardly anybody who gives their real identity in the Internet.
I would advice not to do that again in the future. Try to post your real pic in your profile.
Good Day
