Where I live, in a big city, I hear the sound of ambulances quite often. And it always kind of depresses me, because I know it means someone is really sick, or maybe even dying.
How is it where you live? Do you hear ambulances a lot too? And do they depress you as well, or do you sort of block it out?

Ah, then I guess it makes more sense indeed, to hear them more often. Thanks for taking the time to reply, I appreciate it!

I don't really hear them too often. The ambulances around here are kind of weird because the sirens on them aren't very loud. If I'm driving and have my window rolled up or am listening to music, I usually can't even hear them until they are right up on me, which isn't good for the people in them. Even though I live in quite a small city, there are lots of ambulances that come from all around to the hospital here because we are surrounded by many county areas. I live in southern Virginia.

Hm, I have never heard of such ambulances before! I suppose they annoy people less, but you are right, it could be a problem when it comes to traffic, so I am not sure I like it...
Very interesting to hear that there are such ambulances out there though, so thanks for sharing your story!

Ambulance cars go all over the city quite often. Yes, ir is depressing, because the sound means there is some problem in the neighborhood, health problem or other criminal problem. Yet, at the same time, the sound means the emergency service is doing its duty very well. That of course is encouraging. The city is managing the service very well.
